And you, and several others here are the exact opposite....

And Ken is not that way...I'm fairly sure that he owns and has restored a few old trucks...

They don't need anyone's approval. But they do need their money and there's only one way to get it... Approval. You know Ken it's my expeirence from your posts that the new trucks could do no wrong and everything old is obsolete and therefore bad. Feel free to correct me.

actually i think this is one of fords greatest ideas....looking forward to new generations of truck buyers. Excuse me for sounding cold, but many in your generation won't ever buy a new truck again, while most in my generation are just becoming able to afford a new truck. Your generation may not have a use for usb ports or nav radios or high end amenities, but mine does.

I look back on TV's 6 or 7 years ago, a 1000 dollar big screen seemed like a great tv, alot of older people said they'd never buy those fancy flat screens that cost 5-6 thousand dollars......well go into a electronics store today and try to buy a 36 inch tube tv....they don't exist. Manufacturers that don't embrace the new technologies are passed by....by ford putting usb ports in, cooled seats, and other "fancy gadgets" they're welcoming a new generation into Ford. Need more examples.....just look at the sync system and see how well thats selling......

THE KING is starting off with a positive reputation.
Im the "Younger Generation" And my opinion you can keep your screens and i pod crap. CD is high tec for me, hell in my bronco i bought a radio that has a usb plug so i can plug my flash drive or i pod in, NOW thats fancy! And im absolutly happy with it. All i know is i wouldnt be taking a 30-40 thosuand dollar pickup trucks where ive taken my bronco. If ford made something for off road use mainly and less creature comfort, then il be the first one to sign. And for what i could generaly afford is just a base XLT....

LOL!!!! well i mean i would to, as long as it wasnt a lease lol. Unless your good with a Polishing wheel like i am, black trucks show manny scratches, id probably lease a white one. lol But back to the Subject, I thought alan jacksons commercial where he hooks the ski rope up to the hitch on a 150 and skis was awesome, better than playing a geeetar (which is freakin sweet) And singing that hes a "Ford Truck Man" UUU HUH......

Ryan50hrl,

I have no idea how old you are but I'm guessing were close to the same.
I for one said the hell with technolgy the day they quit making VHS. I have held to that. . What I know is that if I wanted USB ports and display screens I'd buy a Dell, not a Ford. It has been said as a joke but everyday that passes I wonder. How long before the airbagsasks "Are you sure?" before deploying. I have no idea about going into electronics stores. My source of entertianment is an console radio made by Packard-Bell. Embracing new technolgy is not good if it carries the price of alienating good customers. I have never bought a new truck and if they keep going the way they are I never will. The truck that I'm considering as a replacement for my current truck is actualy 13 yearsolder than what I have now. But it has less miles and is in much better shape. IMHO older is better. I see that everytime I see a new truck. I formed the oppinion that instead of buy a newer truck a person is better off to find a good used Pre-96 Ford and fix it.

I'm not sure what it is about the "2009 F-series" forum, but everytime I come on here it gets me even more ticked off at Ford. The other boards here do not have this effect. Go figure...

Maybe its that every thread you post in you complain about the new truck.....if you don't like one.....buy a dodge.....or buy an old truck.....fine...but stop telling everyone that the trucks are crap because they have new inovative features...

OLDER is BETTER!!!! the new trucks are designed to throw away, you wont see any of them even on the roads in 20 30 years... they will disinegrate.

Exactly what mechanical part of these trucks aren't built as good as old ones?

whomever "hawks " a truck doesnt phase me if i need/want the truck. I will say tho years back i went and saw Toby Keith in concert and he was the most stuck up obnoxious SOB i ever saw and would never go to his concert again even if i got the tickets for free.He is a little too full of himself but id imagine fame gets to alot of these guys

i've yet to see a 97 F-150 rusted out.......but i've seen a whole lot of 96's....steel may be thinner....but it lasts a whole lot longer....

Plastics have come a long long way......and for the record....80's trucks had plastic too....and i can't speak for sure...but i bet you can find plastic in a 70's truck too....oh....and see which trucks fabrics last longer.....

aluminum dissolving? can you show me some evidence of this....plus you do know that there are sleeves in the aluminum that the pistons actually ride in....and aluminum dissipates heat far better than cast iron.

Transfer cases and transmission cases have been made of aluminum for DECADES.....

Again....show me some evidence of these new fangled metals (aluminum) causing problems.....

dissimilar metals are known for corrosion problems.. aluminum block with steel sleeves.. thats looking for trouble.. get in a accident and you may crack that fragile block. aluminum transfer cases suffer from CHAIN drive.. now thats all fine and dandy on a bicycle.. but come on in a heavy duty truck? yes the 70's fords had some plastic interior parts.. let me see i think 2 of them.. allot easier to replace then an entire interior!!

Everything. Way too many things to list. The steel has been recylced many times and is weaker then it used to be. Emissions and other govt. bs has required trucks to meet more strict standards. They need to be lighter and thinner metals and platis is used. Emissions keep getting tighter and thus the need for computers which crash without warning (been there, done that, no desire to go back) And as has been said many time how many of you have ever given thought to the fact that those fancy features, like anything else, will get old some day and will no longer work.

In addition to the above I just plain hate the new features. Power windows for example. I'm sitting their in a hot car while waiting for someone in the store. I'll roll the window down... Oh wait they have the key. Oh then the motors go out and you can't get the window down at all. (My brother had that happen) Then there's the HYD clutches that get stiff in the cold and there jumpy if you don't get the revs just right. Can't forget ABS that is hell to drive on slippery roads, Or IFS that causes the tire to wear the insides when a plow is on the front. I could go on and on. Contrary to what a certian person says here. It is not about not being able to afford a new Ford. It is about not wanting one.
