2009 Front Air Dam?

Has anybody else noticed the 2 small plastic looking boxes in the air dam? I am wondering if these serve a purpose or not?

I was trying to figure out the same thing. I don't know if they are just cosmetic or if they serve a purpose.

I think in one of the videos it said there are frame end covers. still not sure why they did not hide them behind the bumper. maybe easy access for mouinting a tow bar, just guessing on that one.

I thought one of those videos said they were there to protect the bumper from minor scrapes and damage (for those who actually use these as work trucks).
