I agree - breaking and entering is one thing...the vandalism is quite another. I don't mind someone trying to steal from me quite as much as someone trying to hurt me senselessly. Having the shop located directly across the street eases my mind considerably, but I still have several loaded poppers close at hand. And someday I'll have an alarm on the shop, just haven't gotten that far, yet.

Just as an aside, the reason the shop is so close, is that the previous house and vehicle were burned down - the vehicle WAS torched, maybe so the house....

If you get a trained attack dog have a good lawyer they can be considered a weapon also. I have a 200lb dog and you would not beleive the sue happy lowlives out there. Thankfully it hasn't happened to me but I know people that it has,and that is with their property being vandalized. With the shell and hole "FIGURE OF SPEECH" it's called the fear of some one who seems crazier then them. "Don't have a battle of wits with a unarmed person" if you get the point. any how the bang is enough or just use rock salt....

I agree with Jon. WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND. a little solace can perhaps be taken from the knowledge that their miserable lives must SUCK on a daily basis.

Jeff,
I feel your pain.... but as everyone said.. wgaca. Vengeance is mine saith the Lord.
I just spent some major dollars on security cameras for my homes under construction. I've had wires pulled (copper costs are up.. but it seems like an awefull lot of work for $3.00) Just before Christmas they took $1,800 worth of ceramic tile, I've had furnaces stolen, and just plain vandalism...

Sorry to hear this, Jeff. Hopefully some justice will come of it. I, personally, carry my justice behind the seat.

Thanks for all of the replies and thoughts folks, I think I have the parts covered. I have collected used parts for many years now. As to the vengance part, if I would have had the chance when I first saw the damage, it wouldn't have been pretty. I have calmed somewhat and started to get a plan together. We have a pretty good description of the boys and their truck. I know a lot of people and have been making calls most of the day, the web is closing in on them. I already have 2 tips as to where there are trucks like what was used. Once we do the legwork, I'll let my buddies at the PD handle the rest.
The damage to my truck will total well over $1K, so they will be looking at more than just petty vandalism and breaking and entering.
I have also started looking into a security system. Looking to install something with several motion activated cameras. I have even been thinking of extending the fence a lot sooner than was planned.
I'll keep everyone updated to any new info, Jeff

Jeff, sorry to hear about you problems. You say "20 something Kids"? How old do they have to be today to grow up? I think I quit being a "kid" when I was about 12 years old. Put the wolf at the door and make them work for a living and they will grow up quick. Then they will respect the property that others have worked so hard to get. Sorry, don't get me started on that subject.

Hope everything works out and you have a better tomorrow.

Gil

Sorry about what happened Jeff. It seems like the working man always get's screwed over somehow. I'm 22 and cuss about young punk a$$ kids everyday. Maybe because i have bank payments, car payments, etc. Some people just need to grow up. Wonder how they would feel if you done that to something of theirs? Something they worked their buts off for. Good Luck Buddy.
