in tank pump for efi to carb conversion

For those that have done the efi to carb conversion on the 87-91, did you use the low pressure in-tank fuel pump and if so, how did you wire it to work without the computer.

thanks

I take it you have a 302 or do you have a 351 if so I would personally just change my timing chain cover to one that has a boss for a mechanical fuel pump, put a cocentric on the cam(great time to replace the timing cahin if needed) and run a stock 302 or 351 mechanical fuel pump. Then I would just take out the fuel pump in the tank and put a regular pickup in there. Then just pull out all of the computer crap.

I'm building a new engine (331 stroker) so adding a mech pump is no problem, but I have dual tanks. How would the tank selector switch work? thanks for the help.

That one is a bit tricky. The only thing I could think is a electric valve wire into a switch. Or you could just swap to one big tank.

I did a similar thing, I just got a generic fuel transfer switch from the parts store. I don't remember the part number now but it worked good. I did away with the intank pumps and went to a frame mounted pump infront of the switch.

I still have the stock V6 electric pump in my 5.0 Ranger. I'm running an Edelbrock carb so I just installed an inline regulator. 50,000 miles now since the 302 went in and never had a problem yet.
