Nothing to do with the floor shifter. The only ones that came from the factory with a solid axle are F350s and up with 4wd. You won't find an F250 with a factory solid front axle.

F350s were the only trucks with solid front axles those years. They had the Dana 60 monobeam.
On the other hand, F250s had the Dana 50 TTB

And no it has nothing to do with the shifter.

FWIW, a very select few F350's, and it appears all 97's, were available with a TTB front end, but as far as I know there is NO factory F250 with a Dana 60 front.

I have never seen a F350 with a TBB setup. That would be wierd to see one, as from looking at mine, it would be strange for me lol.

Thread- https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...lid+front+axle

Ebay link- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Rare-...em270198251120

Change the first number of the VIN on that Ebay link to a 1 (which it should be) and you get a true F350 VIN. I also looked at a 97 crew cab Powerstroke to buy that had a TTB under it. I don't know why anyone would want one that way, but apparently they are out there.

Looks like that truck (rare one) has front leaf springs on it.
Thats pretty neat if it did.Is it a F-250 TTB?

It would make sense if you wanted a comfort-type truck that won't be used for heavy offroad or very heavy towing purposes... But no, I agree. If I were to buy an F350 I'd be MAKING SURE I'm getting a monobeam with it

thnkas , and ?

I notice in the pics that it has leafs instead of coils. Comi from old school, are those setups as easy to get a few inches o lift from as a solid?

I know lifting ti much is going to throw geo off, but the 250 i'm looking at sets pretty good as as, just needs maybe 2" to "level" it up for it to look good to me.

thanks again all.

i have a 94 150 4x4 5.8 a4od 31-12.50 bfg at's, i wanna go up to 35's and more serious wheelin, but i learned a long time ago not to put much money in a 150 to go big, you will just spend more latter fixin broke parts, and tryin to keep it drivin straight, then if you bought a hd truck to start with. Plus 460's seem more common in the bigger trucks as well, and i know a whole lot more about the 460 then any oher ford engine, so its more comfortable for me.

All 4wd F250s and F350s are going to have leafs instead of coils. In order to get lift in the front you can either add-a-leaf, add blocks, or swap for lift springs. If you lift more than about 1.5" you'll also need to install drop brackets for the radius arms (on a TTB front end). Also keep in mind that on a TTB you'll need to have it aligned if you adjust the suspension at all.

TTB is a waste of time. If i was to buy another truck it would be an F350 just to get a straight axle (obviously cause im converting my F150 to straight axle)

And Mike, F250s had front leaf sprung Dana 50 TTBs, all that "rare" F350 is either a incorrectly badged F250HD or an F350 that got the short end of the stick and had TTB stuck under it. ***** happens, factories run out of axles if a shipment is late, but they cant stop production until it gets there so they make do.

Who buys a 3/4 ton or 1 ton for comfort? I've had good luck with my two TTB's, but I'd much rather have a solid axle under there any day of the week for sure.

Same I think anyone here would.

Just trying to point out that there are always a few oddball people out there that want oddball things.
