I have an 09 red and gold 2 wheel drive lariat on my desktop. I sure hope that the real deal looks this good. I think that is the best looking truck I've seen!

Very nice. Ford has kept with it's ultra conservative exterior styling. They borrowed the head lights from the current Expy. I'm unwilling to pay for a KR or a Platinum truck. The functional goodies such as the tailgate step, the bed steps and the nice towing mirrors should be standard on work trucks.

I'm excited about the screw being 6' longer, new engine options now and in the future, e-locker and overall looks.

What proof, other than your feeling, do you have to back up this claim?

The first time I looked at the new F'150 front end, I thought I was looking at the Honda Ridgeline....Nuff said...

Not true. The 300 is no more reliable than the mod motors are. It was very reliable in its time though

David85 is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
It seems to me we are all biased to favor what we like (or own at any specific moment), and its not always about what is more reliable or better. The 300 was one of the longest serving engines ford ever made.

The catch with newer vehicles is that they are more complex and there is more to go wrong with them. I feel that for outright durability, cast iron is still the best, and for simplicity, open loop carb with electronic ignition is the best. For a daily driver that is properly maintained, the stock 300 will be out classed by the newer EEC engines like the modular V8s. For a life and death situation far from help, spare parts, or a code reader, I want a machine as simple and overdesigned as possible. I don't think I would trust my life in any computer integrated truck if I had the choice.

But since cars and light trucks are made and used for average daily conditions, that example is quite subjective........

I rather think the 12V cummins is one of the best engines ever made, but try telling that to a Powerstroke/Duramax fan, its got more to do with loyalty and preference than real performance I think. So whats the point in debating it.

When I towed an 8900lb load this morning around town, going through stoplights, I was frickin' AMAZED at the torque in my 5.4 everytime I barely depressed the accelerator. I'd love to see one of those Toy's in the REAL world.

I like the new 09 F150, if I was in the market I'd more than likely buy one. I have an 06 KR that's been great so I'll wait a couple years for all the bugs to be fixed.

i guess a lot of this talk about which motor is more durable is probably biased on what we have. i have a 300,302 and a 350,my dad has a 5.4 and he doesnt really like it because the gas mileage is ridiculous.no one can convince me the modular motors are more reliable than the 300,but theres some people out there that i couldnt convince the 300 is more durable than their 5.4.so there isnt really any point of debating it cuz it will get no where.

I also agree that the cummins 5.9 is/was one of the best engines ever put in a light truck.
