I got a heads up for any one with a 6 liter powerstroke, theres a heater hose on the driver side that wraps right behind the valve cover check that the hose is not touching it.
Got home today and noticed a puddle under the truck and traced it to the heater hose, the valve cover bolt had rubbed a hole right through it.

LMAO...DAVE!!!! I can't even SEE the rear of my engine...I know it's there somewhere hidden under hoses and lines!

I did check for puddles though! LOL!

 

yeah I know what you mean its pitiful you cant see the motor, have you tried changing the air filter? its awful to change took me 45 minutes! A 3/4" splice and a couple of hose clamps im good to go for now. Im afraid to find out how much that hose cost.

 

No....I've got the new air filter waiting for the airflow minder to tell me it's time....but so far so good!

I like my 86, I can see the ground between the engine and the fire wall from up top.

First step on an engine swap for me is remove the hood.
First step on an engine swap in a 1999 and up truck is remove the cab.

 

Yeah...those were the good old days. I really wish I still had my 86 with that 300 ci six in it. I'd trade that for my 92 with the 351!

Got ya-all beat on the 82 rase the hood and unbolt parts and take them out! Put them back in the way. I can see daylight all the way around the engine.

Good tip on the 6.0. To throw in my $.02, I can change the plugs on my '67 by sitting under the hood on the fenderwell. Okay, it has a straight six, but details, details...

Real trucks don't have spark plugs.

 

Then there was the old Corvair of mine, fanbladed the clutch while racing, so drop powertrain, sperate trans from engine, replace clutch, reassemble and reinstall, runnning in under 1 hour. I got pretty good at pullin and reinstalling trannys on front drive chryslers too, but popping the clutch at 4k might have something to so with that...lol

 

Ahhhh the good ol' days before the EPA got involved!
