I can't find anywhere of a mention of a manual transmission option. I really love the look of the new truck and would consider trading my '06 but if there is no manual option I sure won't be getting one.
I would even be willing to pay a few more thousand for it. Looks like that would be good for sales to get more money for a cheaper transmission.
Next thing you know, they drop straight shifts from the Mustang and other cars. Sometimes you just want a vehicle that is more fun to drive.
I hate to say it but I may actually have to look into Dodge. My understanding is that you can still get real transmissions with them.... Too bad, I have been loyal to Ford forever.
Good thinking bean counters, you did your job well. To save a penny you lost a dollar. With thinking like this we wonder why Ford is in trouble.
Other wise it looks like a very nice truck.

So, who hired Wile E. Coyote as a consultant?
1997 F-250 4WD W/460 & a manual
2003 SVT Focus (The Go-Cart)
1967 Mustang Coupe W/351W & a 3spd. (Temporarily Retired)
The manual option (can you call it an option if it's not available?)
has me looking at the super-duty or a Dodge.
Too bad, An F-150 CC with the 5.4 and a six-speed would be perfect for me.
I'm confused why a transmission option would make you jump ship to a completely different vehicle made to different standards... is that ALL that attracted you to Fords? Their POS half ton transmission that couldn't put a match to the auto as far as robustness and power?

Why would someone "settle" for something they don't want when they are paying upwards of $50 large for it?
A manual can't be that difficult to offer. They offer every unneeded gizmo you can think of. C'mon Ford.
its not that its difficult to offer....but since they sold less than 1% of them last year with manuals....it just doesn't make financial sense....you've gotta have two tranny lines (3 this year with the new 6 speed), stock 3 sets of parts, have three different computers, ect......it gets costly.....and surfing around i don't see dodge offering one in the new ram either.....chevy, toyota, and nissan don't..... I think the stick is dead in half tons

Dodge offers a manual on every half ton except the high end Laramie trim level. The even offer a manual with a V8 and with 4X4, Dodge keeps looking better. Mainly because they have choosen not to screw the people who got them where they are, Dodge has always been known as a tough-get the job done-truck. Looks like they are samrt enough to remember that. Unlike another (name need not be mentioned) brand of truck.
