Sorry to disappoint anyone wanting a dodge just because they have a manual, but for the 09 model year dodge has scrapped the manual on all Ram 1500s accept for the 6 banger 2wd model...so you are out of luck. Allpar.com has info on the new Ram.

I find it kind of entertaining in a sad sort of way the assumptions that are being thrown around here. Just because I prefer a stick shift means I have never driven an auto and just don't understand how good it is. Also the assumptions as to the particular manuals I have driven. The other entertaining assumption is on affording and buying a new truck. As all of you know nothing about me, I find this kind of stereotypeing moderately insulting. It is also, unfortunately, how many manufacturers are viewing the world.
Personally I find this thread to have move into being a joke due to the above mentioned assumptions that "people know about me".

wow...i dont' understand why you absolutly have to have a manual to tow a 6000 lb trailer....you won't even consider a six speed auto? I wonder how many of you that won't drive an auto have actually ever owned one?
I'll say I've never owned an auto truck, but have driven them. For me the manual is just about the overall experience of driving. An automatic just seems downright boring. I'm not saying an auto is any less capable, just not fun.
I wouldn't pay $20K or for a vehicle I will be driving everyday just to settle for something that is boring. Thats a lot of money.

Why is that? Is owning a truck simply about having a fun time and autos are boring? To say that the only feature you care about is the manual shift seems a bit far fetched to me. I would much rather have had a manual but the whole truck package was so much better than the alternatives I decided to live with the auto.
That truck was given to me. It was my great uncles truck that he bought new. It is currently not street legal. The mustang will probably get a manual when I finish restoring it.

people people PEOPLE!!!!! omg, does it really make that big of a difference??? if you haven't seen the slow demise of the manual tranny, you're either ignorant or blind. a new era of vehicles is dawning and there is really nothing ur'all going to do about it. even 18 wheelers are coming with "auto" tranny's over manuals not because they're less efficient or less 'fun' but mostly due to operator error. sure i may kno how to drive a 5 speed properly, and maybe u do too, but who's to say the next guy does, or the guy after that?? it makes more sense cost wise, repair wise, maintainance wise, all around to have the computer shift for you when it's supposed to for everyone so the only screw up (hopefully) is with the computer.
THEY ARE TRYING TO ELIMINATE THE HUMAN ELEMENT!
and as a service technician, i can't really blame them either. people do some stupid stuff to cars.
in response to the tranny's ford has offered, yes, the 4spd was and still is bullet proof and the 5spd, well, there have been better, but after driving my 99 f-150 (see signature) for 2 years, it's left much to be desired. i'm tired of running up and down the gears all the time and look forward to owning an automatic tranny pickup in the near future. the only thing i really relyed on w/ the manual was slowing down on the ice w/o brakes anyway.

Not quite true. Yes I'm whining, but I will be buying a truck this year to tow a small camper (6,000 lbs gross).
An F-150 with a V-8 and 6 speed manual would do quite nicely.
An F-250 is overkill.
I'll probably get an f-250, but the fact that I can't get what I want is causing me to delay my purchase and look around at other brands (Dodge).
That could end up costing Ford a sale.
dude, just get the 250 if ur that hellbent on getting a manual, but an automatic will handle it just fine.
