except for the speed limited box under the dash, the distributor, ignition module, coil, wireset, cap/rotor and plugs are the same as any 460 in a pickup. 44/45 is typical. I cant find my book that has them listed, but I'm sure its .044.

I concur....044 it is...

New plugs helped a bunch (fire trucks typically get loaded up from pumping)

If it would stop raining for an hour Id take the thing up on the freeway and get it hot and clean it out.. alas.. looks like a week or so of solid wet stuff

Next step...
Weld up some dash holes.. and reshoot the interior in factory silver.. which just happens to match rustoleum aluminum really close.. good enough to pass
I found shifter boots after lots of searching.. the tranny boot was expensive (50) and the transfer case ones ended up being (30) or so.. ouch.. but "very purdy"

Here's a suggestion.

You can order a CD version of the 1973/79 Ford HEAVY Truck Parts catalog from hipoparts.com. Also sold on ebay. The cost is around $25.00.

No more searching for part numbers, specs, or illustrations...the parts catalog has it all.

Early on I bought that.. many of the numbers have been superseded... and most of the soft parts have long since gone to after market...

but its neat to see what was available...

I drove mine today, nice day, with ice storm in the forecast for next few days I had to get my fix.

I love driving that thing, I need to drive it to work more often.

I know that truck... ex cdf green.... I hate it when they say "almost rust free"..it conjures up blisters under the paint

but right about now.. I understand every aspect of a ford f 600....
if it would just stop raining Id get some pictures...

I bet that thing went to auction at under 1000.00... and some of the equipment is gone.. the portable fire pump....

see me in a week for pics....
