I would suggest NOT shopping for replacement parts simply because they are the cheapest, ESPECIALLY weatherstripping. Cheap weatherstripping will shrink and harden almost immediately within the first year. I have had this happen to me before. Better (OE) quality rubber will pay for itself when you don't have to fix it, or replace it. I do not know who to recommend for your weatherstripping.

See guys I knew it looked like a 385series engine. The 370/429 4V are real good engines. My building supply currently runs 1 85 370 4V (among other new trucks) and in the past has had several trucks with these engines. Only 1 was a 370 2V with the 2 air pumps (smog whatever) and it was a dog.

NMO,
any updated pics?

EDIT:
I had a brain fart idea of what would be great for this truck since youre cutting it up anyway. How about shortening the frame to accept a F100-350 8' bed with something like 79 flairside wheel humps to make a modified dually bed. That would make a cool looking 79 Fseries 4wd truck.

Kinda like this but 29 years older and well over a 100 grand cheaper

Im going to keep some of the fire history of the truck... Ill maintain one of the hose reels, the powered electrical cord.. the generator.. a winco "fire fighter" 10hp wisconsion.. its a beauty.. and nothing like the generators we see at costco and the like,, it has to weigh close to 500 pounds....I love the pole lights, they go up about 10 feet and would be cool for working at night, Ill probably keep them.

I want a flatbed.. thats what Im going to build.. with big belly boxes.. like a contractors body on steroids... I need to load with a forklift etc.. so a regular dually body wouldnt work for me.. but it would be cool.. especially if you took a period f350 camper special body and made it into a dually body

Pictures.. if it would stop raining for a second Ill pull it out of the shop and get some.. but it looks like rain for a week solid

dennis.. I havent forgotten.. confession.. Im going to have my wife do it.. for me.. the tag is blurry.. the bane of age... Ill do it tongiht

On another note

I just want to confirm the door seals/weatherstripping etc are the SAME as the f100 up series. Im about to order some... prices vary.. looks like PRECISION has the best deal.. American made OEM quality..or so they say

Things done today...

Welded up the extra holes drilled in the tranny inspection cover for radio equipment.. blasted and painted it.. hammered silver... I need new shifter boots for the hi-lo and brake lever... they are all the same.. we'll see if my ford dealer is friendly ( I got the master parts CD off ebay.. awesome)

Blasted air cleaner... painted it Ford Blue..

Removed the inspection plates/interior over the front cab mount bolts.. strangely enough one is rusted..not through but enough that I will make one... the cab floor doesnt have any rust on it.. looks like water sat under the rubber mat under the drivers left foot... I think Ill make a matched set out of aluminum and be done with it

I still need to know what a regular lt duty truck has for roof braces.. I think the two cast iron ones I have were put in by fmc to hold the weight of the lightbar (now removed).. I want to make up some more sano sheet metal ones that are tacked in and cant come out

SMOG stuff to follow

I'll take a picture of an 1975 F250 supercab roof interior for you .

The bracing is of steel though.

the center brace is standard for all f-series, the added braces are just that, added for the light. I would discard them to avoid rattles. teh floor mat from a F-100-350 will not work well, as the f-500-800 has a lower center hump. I cut the floor hump from a automatic truck without the removable center section, and added it over the F-600 cover to make the floor contour correct for carpet from a smaller truck. I have had hit or miss luck with weatherstripping over the years, the J.c. Whitney set I got once is better than the more expensive sets I have installed on other trucks. (surprised me) but yes it is the same from the smaller trucks. several companies out there make a good contractors bed that will fit your wheelbase, but I have a flatbed on mine too.

That looks a lot like my old truck (see gallery)

It was used to tow the departments rescue boat and to shade the fire house :P

I sold it in 2003 but I still keep the pics.

There is a sticker on the front of the valve cover,(not the side) with a bunch of letters and numbers on it. That is the information he needs.

Rubber floor mat showed up from Whitney.. as posted earlier.. it doesnt fit.. so cabs are different I think.. anyway I have the 5 inch.. or what some people term.. the "low hump style"

I found these guys during a search..
http://www.stockinteriors.com/items....ard_Cab_Rubber

anyone know of any other suppliers..OEM style and quality.. for a rubber floor mat for this truck

Ill look up fords part number.. but I seriously doubt they still get these.. and even if they did I bet it would be a boatload from a dealer
