As Ken can tell you from his experience with past NAIAS, it's a crazy experience (we'll have pictures of Dr. Z pouring me a pint of Bass tomorrow) and I've just gotten back to the hotel and I thought I'd answer some of your previous questions about the Ford. I'd mention there are new photos up in the
2009 Ford F-150 post (well, new this morning)
1. Stepside?
I wouldn't rule it out completely, and i didn't ask directly (i'll try tomorrow) but none of them out there were stepsides, and they had the full model range.
2. Towing (this, i think was from the other thread)
They're actually having a contest whereby the person to correctly guess the towing capacity of the new F-150 gets the first press drive of it, and someone from Ford will drive it to their doorstep anywhere in America. (If anyone has any guesses, I'd be glad to share those photos and a round of beers)
3. How does the platinum compare to the King Ranch edition?
The platinum is, on a relative scale, much nicer than the KR's. I talked with one of the designers of the line's interiors and he walked me through the living room leather seating (it does feel like those leather couches they have at Gallery Furniture in Houston), the ash wood inserts and the brushed aliminum features. It's definitely more LX than XL.
The King Ranch edition, however, feels much like the previous gen in fit and finish (though, obviously the layout is revised). The addition of SYNC, though, adds a new dimension. I had our photog (famous spy photographer Chris Doane, which is why none of the shots are blurry. I didn't take them) get some photos for everyone:
