Cool Why must we ALWAYS trail in HP!

So now Dodge, Toyota and GM all @ 380 hp mark.... And Ford has? I've just read every possible posting/article I can read on the new F150 and not one possible word uttered about the 6.2L. I won't beleive it exsists until I drive it myself....
How can Ford do so much homework on everything else on thet truck and overlook the ENGINE.

Ive wondered that for years... Modular engines (much like IFS) started with good intentions, but absolutly suck performancewise, but Ford keeps pushing them after every other manufacturer has abandoned them.

Fuel Economy fuel economy fuel economy

GM just dropped a new engone program due to just signed into legistation for MPG requirements for the future.

Just speculation mind you but I bet that has alot to do with it. GM invested millions in the program just to have the laws change to make it a waste of time and money.

How do any of you know what the new version of the 5.4 will put out? Its just guess work from all of you to say Ford's numbers are lower than 380. All the Ford people at the event I was at told me the competition would be surprised, but they couldn't release numbers yet. Lots of panties getting bunchy for no reason right now. I'll wait and see, and will save the bitching for then if Ford doesn't live up to expectations.

Stoopid Federal Gov. They think they can govern better fuel economy???

I think they should all read Car & Drivers Csaba Csere's little editorial on the subject.

With as much money the big oil companies spend buying polititions, I'm surprised that they got it passed.

I believe (as Csere points out) that allowing the market to provide better fuel economy would be a far better, and more practical, way of improving fuel mileage.
If a person can afford to spend the money to buy, and fuel, a big block, gas guzzler. Then they should be able to.

A couple of interesting reads:

If I wanted fuel economy I would look at something besides a truck.......

The Modular line of motors are great engines. They have alot of HP left in them yet. I'd rather see Ford build off of a current proven engine family than come out with something completly new and unproven.

Nothings been set in stone yet I am holding my judgement until ford releases the power numbers. But I agree they better at least tie Toyota.

Yeah I'm hoping they can get 380HP, the same as dodge and toyota out of the 5.4 but I still want the 6.2 boss.
