Peeps like you need to go buy Dodge's. You'll be back.
Ford's chassis can't be matched.
Oh I have no problem going and buying a dodge!! And yes I would come back and buy another ford when they get the 6.2 in it. I'm not going to run out and buy a dodge tomorrow (the new ram wont be out untill fall anyway) I'm just saying if ford does not offer the 6.2 then I will buy a dodge.
Why did I buy ford all those years?? They HAD a better truck but not anymore. Dodge and GM build as good a truck if not better than ford now. And I didn't just jump on the HP bandwagon, I was going to give ford one last chance to prove they could build a truck with some HP and so far they have not done that. So my next truck will be a dodge unless ford comes out with the 6.2 boss or atleast say they are in the next year or so.
Now will I ever buy a ford again YES but not untill they get the HP up to what I want.
Well good luck with your wannabe copy cat cartrucks that can't even come up with there own idea's and have to copy the leader example (tow mirrors, size of emblems, headlight design)just a few!
Yeah I'm wondering how many truck users really need 350+ HP and 400lbs of torque...I'm guessing not many.....and if you're towing that much you might want to look into a Super Duty. If the new F150 was leading in the HP wars I can here the whining now my $40,000 truck only gets 12MPG I say give them time to release the numbers on the 5.4 and maybe even some info on the 6.2 and the diesel.

if the new numbers are 310 hp for the 5.4 indeed, then they were right; even the competitors will be surprised...

last i heard they might come late 09 or wait until 2010 to come out with them. wouldnt surprise me since it makes sense, why would they talk about motor options that wont be in the truck when it gets released, all that is going to do is hurt sales. So if they dont talk about it and then release it the next year they could make some more money with a 2nd good year in sales with new motors.

Have you gone and driven a new chevy or the current dodge? Seriously asking because i have, and the current hemi doesn't even come close to the 5.4 and the chevy wasn't bad, but gm's having all kinds of problems with their 4wd system. What things do you like about the dodge OTHER than the HP? I only ask since you say your not jumping on the HP bandwagon, so what else is it thats sending you that way?

Rest easy 4x4boss! The 6.2L BOSS engine will be available in the F150. It will be either late 2009 or 2010. So...since you are not jumping into a Dodge or chebby anytime soon...no need to worry.
The Modular line of motors are great engines. They have alot of HP left in them yet. I'd rather see Ford build off of a current proven engine family than come out with something completly new and unproven.
Howabout go with something that is both proven AND can make good RELIABLE power without turbocharging...back in the day we called them pushrods...

I drink from a cup called fear!
"Hold on tight cause its gunna be wilder than any 8 second ride"
I drive a 2005 model with the 4.2 V6, with 120,000 miles and the only problem I have had was with the front brakes.
I get by just fine with the 215 or so HP. I can tow my motorcycle trailer, haul whatever I have ever needed to haul, and cruise along just fine down the freeway at 75 mph and 20 mpg. (Have gotten as high as 23 mpg several times).
Don't get me wrong, I realize some guys need 350-400 hp and 400 lb-ft torque, but I am not one of them, and am happy to be in that camp. I don't have to sweat a Dodge making XX hp more than my truck.
I couldn't care less if it made twice the hp. I like my Ford truck and would by another tomorrow, or next year, or the year after that, or.......
Regarding those who are clammering about hp: is it a matter of want or a matter of need?
Seems like if you really needed that extra 15 +/- hp, you be looking at an F250, or bigger.
Not trying to bait an argument, honestly just wondering.
One big reason I want Ford to have competitive power is because my dad works at a Ford dealer and he's said that the F-150 sales have really went down, and he thinks its because the F-150 isn't competive power wise. We all know hp sells. But I still think it would be nice to have a truck that has 350 hp and over 400 ft lbs of torque.
