WHO CARES? Why must Ford trail in MPG is my beef. A small diesel or a hybrid is needed! Almost nobody ever uses all the possibel HP. Furthermore it is the Tourqe that matters. HP is for marketing.

How can Ford do so much homework on everything else on thet truck and overlook the ENGINE.

Well correct me if I am wrong but hasn't Ford and some people working for Ford said all along that it would be introduced with the 5.4 and 4.6 (Redone for more power and economy) and later (2010) they would bring a diesel motor and a motor like the boss.

I'll wait and see, and will save the bitching for then if Ford doesn't live up to expectations.

Panties get bunchy based on a track record by Ford of not hitting benchmarks when it comes to HP. IT happned wiht the 97, and again with the 04s, and so far its happening again.

Quote from Det news article: "customers can choose from the 4.6-liter and 5.4-liter V-8s. A diesel engine and Ford's EcoBoost direct injection turbocharged V-6 will be available in 2010." No word of a 6.2l in there?

Yes thanks fo Al Gore GM dropped the new Northstar V8, but they will have a 6.2L 6 speed combo in 09.

I will be shocked is 09 5.4l has more than 325 HP. Ford wil probably brag how we have more then the 5.3l now.

None of thise other info matters without the right powertrain.... If Ford can't see that they DESERVE to shut down. And thats coming from a loyal Ford guy since day 1 who actually spends his $$$ buying Fords.

I don't know what y'all are all bent out of shape about, it is the torque not HP that matters, plus it had already been mentioned that the truck was getting releaced with the older engines. would you rather have a proven, reliable engine or one that is not tested and will leave you stranded? Give ford time to release the new engines, if it is not done by 2010 model then make a stink.

I am predicting 350 hp and 400-420 ft lbs of torque. Probably just wishful thinking on my part.

lol how are they in big trouble? motor trend had a truck shootout in one of their issues not to long ago, and it trailed the dodge with this HEMI that everyone drools over by about .3 milliseconds in 0-60 and the 1/4 mile. I work at a chrysler dealership those motors are not all their cracked up to be, their trannies blow also. So regardless of what the official numbers are on the motors, the truck is still going to drive, haul, and tow better then any of the competition.. so i dont know what the big deal is? Buy a chip or something if you want more power.

I think Ford is in trouble cause if thats true, I will not buy a Ford. I want a gasser and I want more. Plain and simple. And if a loyal FORD guy like me is finally ready to bail, than how many others are too.

People want more Hp whether they actaully need/use it who cares... Look at Toyotas sales, they totally underestimated the demand for the 5.7 vs the 4.7. Does the typical Toyota driver need more than the 4.7? No. But what do they buy...

I never said the hemi didn't have problems. But owning a 04 for over 4 years now, I also know the 5.4 has more than enough of its own.

If you don't know what the big deal is fine, But perhaps you should tow a camper and merge into traffic on a hot day and see if you have any desire for more HP.... Might shed some light.

well, im sure it will have more power, and on a hot day pulling a trailer into traffic i am very confident that my Ford will pull better then a dudge, or a junk toyota. and if it doesnt, then eh, i'd still rather drive a Ford then either of those two pathetic pieces of equipment

sorry im just REALLY biased lol

If those are the numbers ford is stupid and they are done. I'm sorry 10 more hp is not going to cut it. I hope its wrong but it is ford we are talking about so who knows.

If this is your complaint, you need torque, 18 wheelers are made to tow and they rarely have over 325 HP, Towing is all about torque. I heard the new 5.4 is supposed to have about 385 lbs, that mounted to a 6 speed will have plenty of accessable power. Look at the specs on the dodge and toyota, the power is all high end, you do not use high end power, what you want is low end.

I for one hope that ford does come out with the 6.2 boss because as a long time ford guy (never bought anything other than ford for 43 years) I to will be looking at dodge for my next truck.

Being biased is not a bad thing but when you get past the fact that ford or any other company could give a shi@ about you, you will better off. I thought for a long time ford hung the moon. Now I could care less about them if there not going to give me what I want in a truck.
