I guess they are going to hold onto that for as long as they can or they are still developing the numbers. Why else would they release a truck with no numbers? Or maybey they are planning to crush the competition and release the numbers on superbowl sunday blowing everyone away. Just my wishful thinking.
nah skeeter was just seeing what reaction he would get when he edited motortrends data.
I think that the only way ford is goning to "suprise the competition" is if they actually beat there numbers and gas mileage for once. Not to beat the numbers is expected.
That sure looked impressive wherever the previous poster got that info. I did see some outstanding horsepower numbers but i wont say anymore. I wish I could make a print off that. Probably not true but it really looked official. Who noes this is the internet off course youi here everything.
Not when they loose money on each one of those 10000.....it doesn't make sense to sell a vehicle that you only sell 10K of
I don't know the figures for the Lincoln and Mercury line, but its hard for me to believe they sell many of some of the Lincolns and Mercurys. They may be based off of chassis, engines and etc of Ford products but there are still many parts specifically made for Lincolns and Mercurys. If I wanted to cut the fat I would start there, not cut a little truck that I forsee will only grow in poularity as the gas prices soar.
I priced a Tacoma on toyota site (Stripped down 2wd 4 banger 5spd) and it still don't get 30mpg. The 2.7l 4 banger has power similar to the 3.0l V6. I would prefer a Ford though.
Rangers are a good truck no doubt about it. But if Ranger steals sales away from F 150. Thats a no,no. Ford has way to much money at stake to let that happen. Simple fact off the matter Fords 150 has to sell. They make more money per truck sold then many rangers put together. These redesigns are expensive. Ford has to change there truck plants over to make the new truck. That cost megabucks. One thing when you redesign a model. It better sell an make money or else its curtains period. No room for error.

Yeah, thats a way to look at it. I look at it as what if you don't want or need a half ton truck or in my case own a SD already. Instead of buying a Ranger you'll just have to go and buy a Frontier, Tacoma or Colorodo. What if a die hard Ford guy like me buys one of those other makes and absolutly loves the thing? Theres a good chance there next vehicle WON'T be a Ford. Its a competitive market out there Ford can't afford to loose customers.
That's true. I just drug my 84 Mazda B2000 out from behind the garage. It's been sitting beck there for 4-5 years. It's a guttless wonder, but gets 28-30 MPG.
I don't drive it for work. But it's perfect for running the kids, errands, ect.
I'd seriously think about a new small truck. But it'd dang well better get more MPG than the 4.0 Ranger does.
