I kind of think we all knew that there was no way that Ford could produce a complete new diesel engine in such a short period of time???

I know I had serious doubts they could pull it off

Does the FX4 get lockers front and rear?

From what I can understand, Rear only.

The FX4 features an Electronic Locking Differential axle designed for true off-road
performance. There is also a special 17-inch LT tire available to further enhance
off-road capability. All 4x4 trucks offer a choice of manual or electronic shift-onthe-
fly four-wheel-drive systems.

If they offered dual locking axle diff's, I'm sure they'd toot the horn pretty loudly??

man you guys are nuts...this HP war is crazy....i have a 07 now with the 5.4 L and this truck rips...it pulls very well and is very well made...

if they come out with 350 HP 5.4 L with a good set of gears and a 6 speed auto thats all you need...if you need more than that then you should be looking at either a sports car, a Lightening or a Super Duty...

these trucks are the best made and maybe the best ever so relax...

Oh well I guess I'm nuts.....If your 07 does everthing you want then thats good for you. If ford comes out with a 350HP 5.4 then that wont suprise me because ford has always been behind and I guess they always will be. I have a sports car I want a truck with some great HP!
And I do agree that ford builds a great truck but dodge and GM trucks are nothing to look down on. Does ford out sale chevy every year....Yes Does ford out sale GM trucks NO. Now if you dont beleve me just go combine the GMC and Chevy trucks numbers together and you'll see. I'm a ford guy but I'm getting sick and tired of ford not putting out a engine with atleast the same HP as the other trucks.

Would rather have us rush a new engine into production or wait a year to get it right?

The Electronic Locking Differential is on the rear axle. It locks it up like you have a spool.

wow, all i'm saying is that the trucks we have right now are plenty capable of doing whatever the consumer needs them to...i think it's good to keep up with the competition for sure but i don't think it's a good idea to get into a HP war spending money on stuff like that when they could spend money on R&D for new technology that would put them much futher ahead...so, take the 350HP version of the motor we have now and let ford spend the money they would have spend on developing and producing a new engine on some new technology that will help them 10 fold what a 380 HP 5.4 L would do...

I can't remember the exact numbers, but before Dodge had the huge change for 94, they sold only about 40 000 trucks a year, chevy was in the 500 000+ range, gmc was i think in the 70 000 to 100 000 range and ford was over 700 000 trucks sold for 93

*IF* the diesel shows up in 2010, I might have to look at trading my 2005 F-250 in 2011 (the problems with the 6.oh no guaranteed I'll never buy a year-one product from Ford).

my 03 6.0 has been rock solid, i'd not hesitate to buy it myself, also my dads 08 6.4 has been rock solid so far as well, he has only 7000 km's on it yet though

We got an 03 6.0 to and have never had a problem with it.
Alright back to the regular scheduled program. I think Ford has something up there sleeves with a new gas motor and the diesel should be pretty sweet but we will just have to wait and see.
