ARP Rod Bolts

Is it Possible to put the ARP high performance wave-loc Rod bolts on D6 rods. The reason I ask is because they are only made for the Boss 429-460. Am I just going to have to use the regular ARP rod bolts. For the same price Id like to use the better of the 2 but if it wont work ohwell.
Thanks in Advance

The D6 truck rod is the same as the CJ rod. I don't know the Boss 429 rods.

If my memory serves me correctly the Boss rod bolt was larger in diameter than the normal 3/8" rod bolt...I wouldn't drill the rod out any further for a larger bolt. Deen

You can install ARP wave-loc's on the D6,CJ and 429 Boss "T" rods. These rods use a 3/8 rod bolt. The 429 "S" and the 429 NASCAR rod use a 1/2 tri-lob rod bolt. The D6 and the 429 Boss "T" rod are almost the same with the exception of the weight 'GRAMS' between the two. The T rod was alittle beefier around the beam area. About 30 to 40 gram difference. I had the wave-loc's installed on the D6 rod, make sure you have the big end resized.

I guess I should have clarified what rods I have. I am pretty sure they are D6VE rods and not the truck rods. Im pretty sure the ARP rod bolts with the football shape head will work but I'd like to make sure before I try it. So any info would be great. Sorry about the goof with the rod type.
Thanks in advance

D6VE-AA are truck rods. I have 2 sets and they both have the football head bolts. I used ARP Wave-Loc bolts in mine part #ARP-150-6404.

Well the rod bolts that are on now arnt football shaped, they are rectangular. Now I dont know which bolts to use. Is there a certian way that the wave lock or football shape bolts have to be installed, I know the process for regular rod bolts but if there is a differece I guess I better find out if the shop can do it.
Thanks

ARP Rod Bolts

There is no differance in the way they are installed. Your connecting rod will be stronger with the ARP bolt but not quite as strong as the truck rod since the broaching on the truck rod is circular by the bolt head instead of a straight cut as on your rod. Make sure the rod ends (large end) are re-sized after installing the ARP bolts or you'll be rebuilding the engine again after you spin a bearing or seize the crank.
I'd say as a general rule of thumb that with ARP bolts and your car style rods you'd be good for 6000 RPM maximum. With truck rods and ARP bolts I'd limit spinning the engine to 6500 RPM. Of course if your still running stock factory pistons you'll be limited to 5000-5500 RPM no matter what rod you have...Deen
