ya, i won't be caught hooking to a sled. saw a guy with a new truck this fall hook to "see what she'd do" and tore his drive shaft out and the sled flew into him, knocked his truck to end of chain, and jerked it back into sled again. he reallly gotter tore up!

Didnt say there were'nt risk. We have a street legal class, where its a run watcha brought situation, it has to be street legal w/tags and insurance. Usually not too much damage. Other than dodges eating u joints.

Having a 5 speed your probabialy ok in a stock class as long as you aren't stupid about it ( keep on going when hopping, slipping the clutch etc) Around hear the OBS fords with autos wont pull well or burn tc up because they can't go fast enought to lock. I don't know your rulls but here you have to have you stock intake for a stock class

Not here just tags and insurance. They even will allow some MINOR suspension modifications (bumpstops). They will not allow weight brackets or anything that looks like a pull truck like ladder bars or a loaptop in the passenger seat. However your average programmer is ok. The key is it has to look like a daily driver. We had a guy last year pull his brand new 08 superduty. The guy was litteraly in a booth cooking hamburges hopped in his truck ,apron and all, pulled it(done pretty good) and went back to the hamburger stand.

I've allways thought it would be fun to pull my truck but worry about major damage. The risk isn't worth the few seconds of fun to me. I stick to pulling antique tractors. They were designed to pull. We also have a dump truck/tractor division that I have thought about. They are designed to pull also

Yes the risk is there, but the way i see it there is also a risk in drag racing, offroading, or anything else. I enjoy pulling the antique tractors also, but I always look forward to watchin the trucks pull. I dont wanna become a serious competitor but I have always wanted in on the action.

I'de say try it as long as you know when to stop i don't see much risk. If i had a 5 speed i would definately pull at least once

put some bumpstops on it, install a dp-tuner, put 'er down into 4-LO, stick it up in 3rd and let 'er rip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if it starts hopping then go ahead and give it up b/c a guy i know from down here w/ a dodge took his truck to Houston w/ no traction bars and when it started hopping he just kept going and then all of a sudden only his front tires were pulling. i can't remember off hand what he broke, but he wasn't happy at all about it.

I'll pass. I've seen to many torque converters burn up in OBS fords.

i do have one concern with this. take a look at my ring gear. i took this pic when i changed my fluid. this little speck is just a chip missing. the gear doesnt appear to be cracked or otherwise damaged. i dont think it automatically means failure, but would like yalls opinion.

i could have been dirt in the old fluid. If there are no cracks or play in the beaing than I wouldn ' t worry about it. But it makes ya think how it happened and where did that piece go? Did you find it on the magnet? Do you have a magnet in there?
