Backup Camera

Backup Camera
Has anyone had Ford install the backup camera in their F150? Im thinking of getting it done and did not know if I can get the camera and rear view mirror from Ford and have them install it or since my truck did not come with it, get an aftermarket camera. If you did have a camera installed, what was the price?

If you don't mind me horning in, I've been looking at this mod too. Another thread suggested a unit from best Buy for $129 but all I can find they carry is a camera at that price. You apparently need a DVD. GPS or other type of monitor to tap in to. I don'thave that - my TomTom monitor won't work. The monitor/camera set they sell is more like $600 - way out of my budget since I plan to use this just to hook up my trailer.
I found a unit on ebay that usually goes for around $130 and includes both a front and rear camera with a 7-inch mirror that clips over your OEM mirror. Problem for me is finding someone to install it. My experience is that places like Best Buy, Circuit City and even the specialty auto shops will install only what THEY sell. Am I wrong about that?
Like shockr I'd be interested to know what others have done.

I'm thinking of this camera package:
1. Keyhole camera, with infrared, for night viewing, reverse imaging. Fits in tailgate handle keyhole. I have electric locking tailgate, so I don't need the lock any more. Available on the web for $75-$100, plus
2. Gentex rearview mirror with integrated rear-view screen for camera. This is the mirror included in the OEM Ford Limited and Lincoln LT packages. It is available on the web for $300 or so, including cables.
The install should be easy; snaking the cable over the head liner will be the hardest part. Less than $400 for the evuivalent to an OEM kit.
What do y'all think?

I don't know if you saw my recent post. I just joined recently anyway. I purchased a oem Ford logo rearview camera for the tailgate on my 08 Lariat and it came with mirror display. I got it on Ebay from a good guyin NC. I'm trying to figure the best way to ibstall it because I don't see a plug socket on my harness at the rear tailgate area. If your interested in purchasing one, check out Ebay. The seller is jws098. If you have any info would you please share. Thanks!

Another option is the Safety Hitch camera. The camera has a magnetic mount and uses a wireless connection to the in-cab monitor. What I like about this unit is that it's a quick mount/dismount unit that can be used for other purposes when not needed on the truck.
My truck has a Frame-Cam setup, with the camera in the license plate frame and a wired connection to the monitor in the cab. I installed that before the Safety Hitch unit came out or I might have used the S-H instead.
