NumbersDummy-Mil1on--- Need #'s for a C6

I swapped out my gear ratio from a 3.00 to 2.75 about a year ago and am just now getting around to looking for the proper gear to correct my speedometer. Is that something I can get from you fella's so I have something to take to my Ford parts man?

I'll take a stab at this one. I'm asuming you have an old truck with a speedo cable/gear. First off compute your speedo percent error. If you went from 3.00 to 2.75 it would tend to make your speedo read slow, assuming you haven't changed tire size; larger tires will make it read even slower. Measuring speedo percent error is easy on an interstate highway with mile markers, I like to take a 10 mile sample. It's even easier if you have access to a GPS. Say your measured percent error works out to be 10%, then you would find a speedo gear with 10% more teeth. I found this formula here New Teeth = (Current Teeth x Speedo Reading)/Actual Speed. I'm not sure if the PN's for the Ranger are the same for big trucks but judging by the age of some of those parts I would guess that they are. Git er done...

well I did some figuring at some site that had a calculator for speedomter gears. Apparently I need a 17tooth "white" gear. But I don't know how many teeth my drive gear has which I guess I need to know too. I was hoping to get the gear and have it in hand b/c I"m going in to re-work my governor too.

The drive gear is cut into the output shaft and is not replaceable unless yours has a bolt on drive shaft.
There could be 6 -7 or 8 teeth.
What are you doing to the governor?

I've gotta clean it out. My truck doesn't downshift upon decel. I have to manually downshift. Modulator is good.
