The tranny issues Chrysler had are a thing of the past. They have since recovered from that downfall. They may have some failures nowadays, but nothing like it was back from 94-02. I'll bet some newer Chrysler vehicles will and do have tranny issues, but so do Ford and Chevy as well as others. Bottom line is that they're MUCH better than they used to be. It's unfortunate that so many people have the mentality that Chrylser's transmissions are junk in every vehicle up to the current build. It would be no different than saying something like "New Ford? It's gonna need that 5yr/100K rust warranty for sure!!" Or "5.4 V8? It'll need a 5 yr. warranty because the plugs and manifold bolts are gonna need it!!" I'm not directing this toward anybody in particular (despite the quote), but it seems too many people base judgement on what they hear, not what they see and experience. Show me a perfect vehicle and I'll show you something not too short of a miracle.
You need to look at Consumers Reports Frequency of Repair record. It's not heresay. The Chrysler products for the past several years have the worst record of anyone that builds motor vehicles. Well, Mercedes is just as bad. Nothing that I want in my drive. Horsepower isn't any good if it's in the shop. Like it or not GM has the most reliable ratings of any trucks built in America right now. And Ford isn't far behind. Toyota, well it's isn't even recommended. And Nissan is the second worst in America. So what do they want to do? Make a Deal with Chrysler to have Dodge build their trucks...DOH!

Chrysler is no better or worse than Ford or GM. I don't care what Consumer Reports says. That there is a small representation of the millions of owners of these vehicles. I own a Ford, and it's been less than perfect. Dare I say not as good as my Dodge was. I take ratings, reviews, and reports with a grain of salt, good or bad. I'll never let somebody elses experiences dictate what I buy unless I see a prominent amount of issues associated with one particular brand/product. For Consumer Reports to say that Chrysler is the worst means nothing to me. Next year the results could be completely different. All vehicles break, and I'll never let a web-site tell me what vehicle manufacturer is good or bad. I myself and many others I know have had great experiences with Chrysler products, so I will not retract my statement that they are a good company with good products. Besides, I've been scouring auto sites for reliability ratings (ex:MSN auto), and for 1/2 ton trucks, Dodge is ahead of Ford and Chevy, so it goes both ways. When it comes to vehicle reviews, I think of the saying, "Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see."

Dodge did right by going back to the older looking fronts from 94-01. Honestly, I think the new Fords look ugly, and I would buy the Dodge if I was in the market for a new truck. This is comming from a Ford fanatic.

It`s A good looking truck, but dodge turned me off when I had the brake pull problem on my 96 2500. they actually tried to fix it by adding longer wheel studs & A spacer plate behind the rim (theres A tsb for this procedure no joke!)
Damn nice looking truck. Totally not a fan of Dodge or Chrysler in general, but that catches my eye. Looks sharp. And at 0-60 in 6.1...it's truly dominating the '09 F-150 in every aspect.

Except towing, payload and I think interior room now that dodge doesn't have a mega cab. Its like the Tundra great stop light to stop light racer but its not dominating the 09' F-150 in every aspect. Also you don't know the power ratings of the 09 F-150 and the 0-60 times, so you really can't make that statment.

who cares how fast the Ram gets to the grocery store, Ford makes a real truck, with the boreing goodies the other have, but if you want a real truck, you gotta go ford. Ford made the best truck in the 70's and have ever since. a truck the delivers,

Did you read any of the previous posts? Quoted power ratings all over the place... none of which were decent, much less spectacular.

Wow...that was a really great statement. Boring goodies? Somebody's got their head a little too buried in the Ford sand to accept that the competition brings more to the table.
I love Ford as much as the next guy, but I don't see a competition between the '09 Ram and the '09 F-150. The Dodge wins, hands down.

I think dodge made some very large changes to the crew cab. The pictures mad it sure look like there was plenty of room.
Honestly, if you plan on towing more then 9000 lbs in a half-ton, you are just asking to get your self and someone else hurt.
@Ranger, could you please stop just saying ford is the best. I like ford to! I have a ford ranger as well! But I just hate it when people make comments like that without really comparing the competition at all and what they offer.
I'm not on this forum for f-150s very much but i have to make a few comments about some of the things on here. That Dodge is pretty cool. I've owned alot of new vehicles in the last ten years, and a little food for thought, i worked for a GM spin off facility during those times. This is what i've owned new.
1998 F-150 XL LB 4.2 5sp 3:08= 17cty/22hwy Great truck 0 problems
2000 F-150 XLT SCLB 5.4 AT 3:55= 14cty/16 Great truck 0 problems
2000 Pontiac Aztec GT 3.4 AT= 21cty/26hwy Mediocer Intake leak
2002 Chevy Tahoe LT 5.3 3:73= 14cty/16hwy Air conditioning probs, rear wiper motor, speakers falling out of doors
2003 F-250 Lariat CCSB 7.3 AT 3:73= 14cty/17hwy Entire front end rebuilt, Transmission,Brake booster,Auto locking hubs i still own.
2005 Pontiac Aztec= same as above no problems
2006 Jeep Liberty CRD 21cty/ 26hwy several recall issues due to the diesel
2006 Dodge durango 5.7 AT MDS 3:73= 12cty/ 16hwy 0 problems
so i will cut to the chase, the vehicles are built by humans at every phase from parts suppliers to assembly lines, there are always going to be bad vehicles. In my experience it seems the more you pay the more probs you have. If i did'nt truly love my 250 i would have sent it down the road a long time ago because it has been the worst by far. I liked every 150 ive had, but i also love our Durango.Somebody saying they got 22 is just rediculous. Maybe driving 55 and a tail wind. Blind loyalty is not a good thing either because it does'nt force ford or GM to do anything differant. Dodge on the other hand has been fighting the perception that their still making the junk they made in the 70s and 80s and they have really good product. Ford and GM have been relying on loyalty and the Japs are kicking their asses. Hopefully they will wake up soon. Im not a fan of the 09 150 or the preceeding style. I think GM and Ford missed on them. Just my 02cents.
Just looked at thepics, that is a SHARP looking truck! I love the front end! the understated grill looks amazing compared to the gaudy look of everyone else's trucks.
