Smiggs whatever you are smoking is some VERY good stuff!!!!!!! 22-23"ish" LMAO My wifes uncle had a 94 Ram with the Cummins and he could barely get that.Use a fricken calculator next time!!!!!!!!!
So you are comparing two totally different truck designs and motors. By the way, we did confirm it on the Ram manually. Meaning we used a "fricken calculator".
Does your wife's Uncle have a 06-07 with a MDS Hemi? That's what I thought.
And those #'s with the link... for a 2WD Durango with the 3.7L. I took the liberty of actaully looking up the #'s for the 5.7L Ram and they were worse. But before you start the victory parade, it makes no mention of the MDS and there is a section with would clearly identify if it was used. Am I grasping at straws, possibly, but it's not like some to assume here and not actually have experience with what they are talking about....
You do know you're not supposed to drink the bong water right?

Smiggs at the time you said that, 1/11/08 to my knowledge there was not an official picture of the 09 F-150, or at least I hadn't seen one until 1/12/08 which was Saturday.
Ok? Your point?
I have seen the new F150 as of Saturday also and IMHO I hope Ford comes to the plate with some awesome drivetrain options because as of now, the Dodge looks even better.

I didn't read the fine print, if there was any. But I should imagine that the numbers posted are the vehicles that are certified. The Hemi is certified with the MDS. So we should conclude that those must be the numbers for the 5.7L engine. And yes they are worse, no news flash there.
Like I have said before guys, it takes horsepower to push these things through the wind. About the only thing that can be controlled is the frontal area, efficiency, and rolling resistance. Horsepower takes energy, and that is gas/diesel. And each gallon of the stuff only has so many calories. If one guy has more frontal area it will take more energy to push it through the wind. So that leaves rolling resistance and efficiency. Rolling resistance is equal if they have equal/same tires on them. Efficiency is determined more by the driver than anything else. The engineeres have no secret formulas. It's just a matter of how much of the caloric intake is put to the work of pushing that thing down the road. And surprise, no one has a true edge. To top that off, bigger engines are less efficient than small engines.
So bottom line is that they all suck gas, and we all knew that. You want great gas mileage? Buy a Focus , or a Civic , or hell ride a bicycle.
It already revs fast enough. High revs is the last thing you want is when your pulling a load. Ford just needs to flatten out the torque curve, like dodge did with the HEMI
The 5.4 has a very, very, flat torque curve. What make the 5.4 sluggish compared to the HEMI is the lack of high rpm horsepower. The 5.4 torque is very good. The 5.4's lack of horsepower is the issue here. it already has a healthy torqu curve and the only way to get comparable hp out of the 5.4 is to spin it faster, it is simply too small.

Wow they said they have improved the 4.6 and 5.4l for the 09 as well as added the 6sp auto tranny that may increase hp but i think they should come out like i have been hearing 6.2l or something big engine

The 09 f150 has 3 engines available.
4.6 2valve v8 - 248hp@4750 and 294lbft@ 4000 rpm
4.6 3valve v8 - 290hp@4750 and 317 lbft@ 4000 rpm
5.4 3valve v8 - 310hp@5500 and 375 lbft@ 3750 rpm
the 4.2 six has been dropped got this info off motortrend
I think Dodge really has something going for it. The bed boxes are brilliant. I'm sold on that alone. Maybe down the road offer them on a long box. And keep the doors 20 inches or so from the the cab so a crossover toolbox would still fit is extra storage was needed. I have to ask though. Is the center console standard on all trim levels or just the high end trim levels? That's the only thing about the Dodge I don't like from the pics. I'm still look for interior pics of the Dodge regular cab. I'm not a fan of crew cabs on a half ton.
I think if you order it with bench seats (if they still have that these days) there will no center console, or if you order it with a manual transmission.
