The only thing that I see on the avalanche of any kind of additional bed storage is that the front end of the bed can fold down into the cab. Like the Ridgeline.
OK, Now I am wondering what truck I saw had the storage toolbox along the sides of the bed. I thought it was the Avalanche. I went to the Chevy site and there is no mention of it. There are several aftermarket boxes that are over the rail, but nothing under it. Maybe thinking of the nissan with the under the box compartment. NOT! IDK!
Jonas it was a Avalanche. My Brother inlaw has one with the storage boxes in the bed sides. It does not include the top edge of the bed like Dodge. They are actually on the inside/top of the sides of the bed and open from the top. But they are factory and built in. I dont know what year it is. http://www.chevrolet.com/avalanche/photogallery/#exterior08

OK, finally I see it. 1.7 cubic feet of lockable storage on each side of the bed. Drain holes in the bottom to allow the compartment to be used for cold drink/food storage.
There is a similar storage in the Sport Trac, only it's in the bed floor like the Ridgeline. All three are very handy, but I give Chevy and Dodge the nod, as it would appear that in the side of the bed it's more accessable.
Actually I feel relieved. I thought I was getting ready for the nut-house. LOL!
who cares, how many gloves you can carry, its about carrying in the bed, not some cheap place, to hide the ropes. wait dodge owners dont carry ropes, dont drive a real truck.

Your right, we don't carry ropes in our dodges. But i have gone back to the house twice now to get the rope to pull my brothers ford home.
i THINK THE FORD IS A BETTER LOOKING TRUCK. NEVER GOT EXCITED ABOUT THE HORSEPOWER WAR. mY 2005 XLT WILL OUT PULL ALL MY FRIENDS DODGES. THEY ALL HAVE RELATIVES WHO WORK FOR CHRYSLER SO THEY GET THE DISCOUNT. I'VE HAD THREE FORDS AND NOTHING BUT GREAT TIMES. THERE IS ENOUGH PEOPLE WHO WILL BUY BOTH SO ITS PERSONAL PREFERENCE. FORD WILL OUT SELL IT 3 TO 1 THOUGH
Are you thinking of that storage bin on the Titan Crew Cab, behind the drivers side rear wheel?
MMM...no not as an individual example per se. Sport Trac is plastic bed. Honda Ridgeline is plastic lined, Chevy Avalanche is 90% plastic in the backend. So, what's to rust. Crack, shatter, evaporate yes. Rust. Isn't going to happen with plastic parts...
