Hey there Michigander!I recently purchased a truck with the same problem as you. doing some research i came across a product called POR-15, Its expensive but it works good and lasts long. My plans were to sand down the surface rust, treat the metal with the primer product and paint the frame and rusted parts. While your down there make sure to paint your oil pan with the high heat version of POR-15. If you get a leak in that bad boy its alot of headache!!!!! to replace the oil pan on a diesel super duty you have to lift the engine. in short its a $2000 job. Goodluck!
