Question Tuning Headers...

Does anyone know the difference in power between longer and shorter lenght primary's??? I found hooker full lenght headers but they come in two different lenghts...27" primaries and 32" inchers. I was wondering what the difference in power would be...would the longer ones be more torquey or vise versa??? I know the compitetion headers that are adjustable are tunable by changing the primary lenghts I just dont know how adjusting it either direction works for the power??? Anyone know???

The longer primaries will make more torque, typically. What engine or vehicle is it for. The problem with so many headers today is that they are desined on the dyno with very little to no load on the engine and are looking for high rpm hp. If they ever see a dyno. An engine will react totally diferant under a load. Most any header will show an increase over most any manifold any way. I would look for a tri-y. That's a goood torque header that build power across the board.
Good luck,
Jerod.

Normally the power difference is minimal, or not enough to notice if you did a side by side comparision. Yes longer tubes will make more torque, but not by a huge margin. It really depends on the engine and how its built. Primary tube size, not length is more important.

Remember this though. NO mass produced tuned headers are tuned for YOUR engine. The only way to get correctly tuned headers would be custom built ones made with your engine combination in mind.

Unless you are looking for every last hp and ft/lb you can possibly get, buy headers with thick flanges, whatever coating you want, and what is easiest to install.
