Thanks! Just what I need. I'm going with a mechanical fuel pump too. Do you guys know if a 93 EFI engine has a pump eccentric or do I need to pull the cover to put one on? If not, I may have to replace the timing set as well.
You'll only have to pull the waterpump and backing plate if you have a blankoff plate on the side of your timing case.
I doubt that there would be an eccentric bolted to the front of the cam on an EFI motor, but since I don't have one I don't know if the post '87 timing gear has a slot for one to fit.
Is this what you need to know?

Yes, thanks. I didn't think it did. I'll need a pre-87 cover with the hole for a fuel pump, timing set, and eccentric. I found one at summit - Dura-Bond FKF-3 for $13.
I want to convert my EFI to a carb setup. Is there an adapter plate that fits the EFI lower or am I stuck getting old heads? I haven't pulled the heads yet, is the difference square vs round ports?
This was just discussed on to different threads. Try the search function it really works.
No adapter plates available that I know of simply because the old style heads flow way better. The cheapest HP mod you could do to your eng would be swapping out the heads for D8, DOVE or D3 casting numbers.Kurt
I found it, thanks. My engine has that water cooled oil cooler that prevents me from using a mechanical fuel pump. Anyone got a oil filter adapter that will work with a mechanical fuel pump?
I don't have one, but these part #'s work with my truck.
Your chassis is different than mine, so I don't know that they'll clear.
Check w/ Ford, or use them for reference. You'll need the seals too.
Adapter E5TZ 6881-D
Hollow bolt E8TZ 6894-A
Block boss C9AZ 6890-A
Filter boss *B8A 6890-A
Hope this helps.....

Yes there is and adapter. It's made by Price Motorsports in Indiana. It was originally made for 460's to run on natural gas. $98.00. All you have to do is change your ignition system to vacuum advance.
really great info in this tread but i'm still not convinced on my project so here's my question....i have a 93 460 EFI...looking at buying 2 engines both are 1976ish as the add says, so if these are 76 blocks will they work with my efi heads?? also i have the water-oil cooler so can't i just swap that out if i use the older block?
