nice! i checked out the site, looked at the up pipes too... pretty nice stuff... get the headers and up pipes ceramic coated bolted up to a d66 and a 3.5" dp... would be pretty sweet set up. lots and lots of money though, guess the stock will do :P lol

Why are the 99-2 7.3 headers differnt than ours. Is it the body that is more restrictive?

Well I tried to post this the other day but the dreaded database stuck again.

The headers are not worth it IMO. There are a few high HP guys that run them but none of us here make enough power to justify them.

As for this motor rebuilt...What are your plans for the engine? how will the truck but used and what is plan performance wise?

check out www.powerstrokeshop.com for a rebuild kit. Its 975 and it comes with EVERYTHING you will need. I will be going that route after my machine shop tells me what size pistons are needed. Im also planning on doing a little machine work to the bowl to lower the compression. Other than that i wont be changing anything up. Oh and oging with stock headgaskets this time.

Luke did you have cometics last time? Those are the ones that got spit out right?

cchildress if your just planning on a stock engine I would skip the studs unless you have enough funds. The only thing I can think of to keep your piston damage from happening again is watch the pyro closer and maybe ceramic coat the piston tops.

other than studs and cermic coating I would recommend comp cams 910-16 valve springs and not sure if the rebuild kit comes with new lifters or not be if not I would get new ones.

yes i had cometics. They did not get spit out, but did leak bad. Oddly enough it started leaking while high idling lol. The pistons also had some cracking on the top edge of the bowl, plus one piston was damaged pretty bad from an injector nozzle breaking this summer.

My egts never got all that hot. Maybe the highst was 1200 and thats maybe. Stock sticks really cant get enough fuel to make that much heat.

They do have enough fuel to get to those temps. My first engine with only an edge evo tuner burnt holes in the pistons. Shortly after that i got smart and added gauges.
