I have an 05 XLT 4x4 with a 3.0 and an automatic transmission. We get 23.5 MPG local and on extended trips. (I get the same with my 98 Ranger 2wd 3.0 standard shift)

I don't have a 4 cyl. But my 2007 3.0 liter 4x4 gets just slightly over 24 mpg driving to and from work. 80 miles round trip 75/25 hwy/city driving. Actually quite amazing considering its getting better mpg than the epa estimate listed on the sticker.

Your escape has the 2.3? If so, how is it on power? Would you call it slow, or adequate?

Thanks,

I test drove both the 2.3 and 3.0 and here in the hills of Oregon the 2.3 was just too busy trying to keep going.... For me the 3.0 is much better and I will give up the few mpg to have the extra power. I am averaging a little over 20mpg around town with my 08.

Thanks for the feedback.

Is that 3.0 the Vulcan or Duratec engine?
