dist. mech adv. plate

I am in the process of recurving my duraspark dist. and I am not sure of the meaning of the markings on the advance plate. I have gone to the lightest set of springs in the crane kit and back one step stiffer. I am getting into detonation in midrange. I think my base timing is good(12 deg) and my advance rate is close but I want to limit the total mech. rate. The initial slot is marked 21 degrees, and the other is marked as 16 degrees. Is this marking in crank rotation or dist. degrees. Sorry if this is confusing. Any tips on my total timing curve would be appreciated too. Combo is 460(10.5:1)dove heads and hyd roller(218/224 at .050)headers and stealth intake.

I am intrested in this aswell. But I can tell you that you have to run premium gas with D0VEs and 10.5 compresion to not have detination.
