1999 F-150 5.4 Cylinder head problem
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Feb-02 AT 10:26 AM (EST)]Recently while driving my truck it made a loud back-fire type noise followed by what sounded like a major exhaust leak and it lost power.
I had it towed to the Ford dealer where they informed me it had blown a spark plug out of the cylinder head. I would like to know if this is a known problem or if anyone knows what causes this? It has 83,000 miles and has been properly maintained.
Thanks,
Moey719

They informed me that it had actually blown the plug and threads out of the cylinder head. Luckly it's been repaired under Warranty. My concern was other problems that maybe the cause. My truck ran fine and
maintained proper oil pressure and cooling temp. It didn't leak or use any fluids. I was wondering if there could be an ignition or fuel system problem responsible for this.
