SCT should I worry?

I'm having my truck re-geared from 3.73 to 4.10 this thursaday, would I need to have SCT rewrite my tunes for the 4.10 gears?

I would think that you would have to, but then again I'm not a program writer.

On a Powerstroke, no. It will have no impact. You'll need to use something like a Truspeed to correct the speedometer.

So I can leave my truck tuned and just drive off from the shop as if nothing changed?

Yes. The tuner cannot access the code needed to change speedo database for your truck, or a better way of putting it is even if those changes are made it has no impact on the Superduties.

The speedo gets it's signal from the ABS module (ie signal from the abs sensors in front wheels/diff) Therefore changing diff ratios will not affect your speedo at all. Only changing tyre diameters will do that.

I believe there is a speed adjustment within the Xcal, this is so the transmission shift points can be corrected if you change diffs. No harm will be done if you don't do anything, fuel milage may not be ideal though. This is independent of the tunes you run. Having said that, ideally a new tune would optimize everything again. At least I think that's how it is.

There is a Tire Rev/mile setting in the XCal 3, however, it has no effect on speedo. I tried anywhere from 500 to 600 rev/mile and I'm still reading about 5% faster than my GPS says I am really going.

The only concern I have is that with a 100k mile Powertrain warranty 5% means you lose 5000 of those warranty miles. Not good, especially if your turbo, head gaskets, or injectors take a dump late in the game...

I even tried setting different axle ratio with my X3 and you are right. Speedo was no different.

You need to get a Superlift Truspeed or similar product to adjust the speedo on the Super Duties.

Check out your local electronics store. The sort of store that has all those kits to build yourself. In Australia we have Jaycar electronics and Dick Smith electronics. I'm sure you would have similar stores in the US. Tandy perhaps? Any, this kit is at Jaycar:-
http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=KC5435

Can save a heap if you're prepared to do it yourself. Does the same thing as the Truspeed.

Besides, your Ford dealer can adjust your speedo for up to 35" tyres.

the dealer can flash 34.5" tires into the abs module on these trucks.

speed wizard / truspeed / jet accuspeed are all nice options. I use speed wiz on mine and love it.

as for the one that you build.. looks nice and all, but who do you go to if there is a problem? Also, it looks like it corrects in 1% increments (I am guessing) so the best you can be is +/- 1% I know mine is <1% error from 0 - 100 based on my gps
