Dead truck

Went out to strat the truck, everything was normal when i turned the key on let the glow plugs do there thing, went to crank it turned over then nothing. Now when i turn the key the dash lights are dimm the IDM relay clicking but it won't turn over. Have no head lights.Allthe fuses are good. Was thinking that the wiring harness under the valve cover might have shorted out,the gpr shorted, or the started.

The truck is 14 miles away in a secure place, So anymore ideas would be great.

Thanks

if your dash lights are dim and you have no headlights i would check the conection on the batterys and make sure the batterys have full charge

I tock my fluke with me and the battewries had 12.6 volts but they might be junk when you put a load on them.

Batteries can do some funny things to a volt meter. In the summer my welder wouldn't start. Volt meter said it had 12.5 volts. I jump started it and it ran funny, would idle up and back down constantly. I shut it off and went and got a new battery and it has worked fine ever since. My money is on the batteries.

If you left it unattended for a bit in the cold you may have drained em. Load test em, see what you get. Or go down and put a car on em and run it 20 min or so to get a charge back in em and fire it up.

Keep Wife, get a jump to get it home, check out batterys. you can remove one of the small wires on the GPR and that should disable them and see if it will fires up, or one of the large cables on GPR if it is shorted.
