In all reallity, if the truck manufacturers keep trying to "one up" each other, these trucks will never get better milage. Current gasoline engines are making more torque and power than the old 7.5L motors. Half-ton trucks have been increasing payload and power for many years, and are getting close to the tow ratings of old F250s. An F150 that can tow 10,000lbs???? It wasn't long ago that F350s were rated for only 13,000-14,000lbs towing (okay, maybe it has been that long ago, I am getting older ya know). All of this incrased capability has come at the cost of stagnant fuel milage.

The new fuel economy standards are going to change things. According to Cadillac, they are cancelling their new V8 (DOHC, etc...). Now that they've increased the power on their V6s with direct injection, people are opting for the V6 over the V8.

Give me an F150 that weighs about the same as my '88, is more aerodynamic, and has a twin-force 300 I-6, it'll do all that I need it to do!!!!!

I voted 6.2L. I just love enuff power to enjoy driving. Gas mileage isn't my concern. I've got a 2002 with 33k/miles. I just don't drive much.
