This is Jr. It is my 88 Bronco II. I purchased it years ago for this project. It was a 2WD with a A4LD tranny. I with a lot of help from my son Clint and others have almost completed it. It is now 4WD with a Dana 35 TTB front axle from an Explorer. It has Dana 44 outers on it. The rear axle is a full witdth 9" 31 spline. 4.11's front and back with Detroit lockers. It has a Skyjacker 5.5" class 2 lift. Full size stand alone front shock mounts for longer front shocks. The A4Ld was pulled and replaced with a C-5 rebuilt to C-4 V-8 strenth, a 1354 manual shift t-case, and T&M doubler. Bushwacker Cutout flares and a Warn combo winch mount with a 9500lb Warn winch. Has some engine problems so I pulled the the tranny and doubler and put it in my 94 Explorer that I had tranny problems with. And I have both sets of brackets (84-88 & 89-) for the Warn Combo winch mount so I was able to put the winch on the Explorer. Right now it has an FM145 tranny in it and an electric shift t-case (electric shift motor removed) that we just shift by had with a pair of pliars. I have another c-5 and the 1354 out back to put back in it soon as funds permit. Need to purchase another doubler and have the bottom end of the engine rebuilt. Has World heads on it as the heads were cracked when I bought it but the bottom end seems not to be as good as we thought. I will run at low speed on the trails but not on the road at high speed. AC and heater works great so it is a trailer queen for now for my son Clint to use. I use the Explorer Sport as my daily driver/wheeling truck.
I used the new replacement converter that has the 3200 rpm flash. F-38 maybe the part number. My Explorer has 3.73's and 33's. MPG is really bad (12-13) if I run 70-75 mph (3400-3500 rpm). I can get over 15 if I keep it at 60 mph (2800 rpm). Wish I had the 74-78 c-4 converter for the little Mustang/Capri that had the 2.8. F-38LS(low stall)? Guess I need two. My trucks need to be DD's. I had trouble with the tranny leeking (spraying down the rear hatch with tranny fluid) on the highway. In both the 88 Bronco II and Explorer. Had the small stock tanny cooler on it from the 88 with the A4LD. Did this about a year ago on a trip from Wichita, KS to Oklahoma City, OK in the 88 BII. And again last April when I put it in my Explorer for my spring trip to Utah when I drove it out and back. Put a temp gauge on it last summer and it was getiing up close to 300 degrees and blowing fluid out the vent. Put a larger plate type cooler on it and now it runs 160-170 most of the time. Took the Explorer on another trip in August to Colorado and it just made it to 200 degrees if I pushed it hard in the hottest part of the day going on the road up to St. Elmo. On the trail it was fine. The doubler helped a lot with this and I go slow and easy anyway. My bones are just too old and hurtfull to beat stuff up these days. So you can make it work as a DD, you just need to use a large tranny cooler like you would on a A4LD.
Don't know where any of the low stall converters can be had at do ya?

I have a bell housing from a 74-78 Mustang II/Capri that had a 2.8 hooked to a C-4. The top two bolt holes are the same size as the others. Has the 70's factory casting number. Is that the one you are looking for?
