sounds like my motor is farting...that is if engines could fart?

When Im driving around town I dont hear it but as soon as I put some gas to it, I hear this wierd sound kinda like a engine fart.phhhtttttt hthththththth sort ish.

let off the gas goes away. I dont think they make gas x for this problem. so what do you think? vacuum leak, exhaust leak??

I just replaced the cats, the muffler is realativly new. exhaust note is sweet and strong. until I get on the gas. then all I hear is ....... well im not going to do it again.

Any Ideas..... also I think whatever this is might be effecting my gas mileage because it is baddddd. Just a week ago it was 10 times better after I put the new cats on. I dont get it!!!!!!! one thing after the other!!!

HELP!

Sounds like a clogged cat somewhere, even though they are new.

Could it be an exhaust manifold leak?

im wondering about the muffler...there was half of the catalytic converter in the y pipe and he said that most of it prob. went out the tail pipe and could of gotten some in the muffler. But it still sounds like a leak. He checked my manifold gaskets with a flame next to them and they didnt blow out or wiggle apparently

Could it be in the intake tract, like a messed up air filter or the duct work is sucking air through a leak somewhere?

Funny that you say that. I have seen, first hand, a 7.3l psd suck an air filter through a turbo and really mess things up. It wasn't funny then but it is now looking back on it.

HAHA...nooo.. well depends on what I had for lunch. Just kidding. No its the truck for sure...Its not a sound like I just ate at taco bell and let a wet one. its more like if you S.B.D'd really hard in a tin can....But the guy who installed them said its just the sound of the exhaust going through the cats, that it should go away after awhile. Or, I could wrap them with exhaust wrap to reduce the noise...it isnt that loud. but just awkward sounding if your listening for it.

You shouldn't be able to hear the cats externally. I still think you have old cat material in your muffler.

Add some Beano to the tank on your next fill-up
