I finally got my school refund, so it is time to get my truck project rolling. I want to get this "done" before Thanksgiving. I just need it driving by then. Anyway, I need to start getting all supporting parts together before I order my crate engine.

I have to redo the exhaust regardless since the 5.4 manifolds/headers won't mate to the 4.6 system. I am getting a custom tune so I was planning on getting long tube headers. I can't find many options though. All I have found for a 4x4 5.4 is the pacesetters here:

Are these good headers or is there another source of long tubes I am missing. JBA appears to only make shortys for it, but everyone seems to agree that shortys are no better than stock performance wise. What do you all recommend? IT will be a 5.4 4x4 with no cats going into the stock exhaust until I can afford a better "cat back" system.


I also need to know what other components are best to be replaced or are needed when installing this crate engine. I have a complete 5.4 truck for parts such as the timing cover and intake that are needed. I assume the injectors are the same on the 5.4 and 4.6. If not what is a good source for injectors for the 5.4 as the ones I have aren't in great condition. Anything else I need to replace besides the obvious things like all rubber hoses and spark plugs? I am mainly concerned about things I need to buy and have shipped in order to get the truck running.
