If selling a modified truck. Outlets?

Was wanting opinions on what outlets would be best for selling a modified 73-79 ford truck? Really wouldn't be interested in ebay. Would Hemmings be a good outlet? Havent look in one of those type books in years. A normal everyday truck, would just sell in local ad or put sign on the windshield but thought if you want even a portion of a return on money that you would really have to open up your buyer base.
Hope I worded this vaguely enough to get opinions.
Thanks
James

James dont sell it!

but if you must Hemmings has the clientele to pay what your truck deserves. Another option could be an auction. Maybe like the Florida Barrett Jackson.

What happened to you parting it out and selling me the inner fender panels? HA

Im not downing you at all but unless you sold a cutom Donzi or Fountain Mclaughlins truck is way out of class for craigslist.

Ive been in love with this truck since my first post on this site.

$ for $ I think ebay is the best shot. You get the most advertising for the money as far as I'm concerned.

If eBay is considered? Just keep an eye out for the classic "I represent a buyer over in {insert country name here} that wants to purchase your truck using a money transfer service". Biggest scam there is---and people still fall for it every day.

I would think ebay is most likely to get you the most $$. However, if you are talking about selling that red pile, I'll give you a couple hundred right now

I seriously hope you aren't selling your red truck. That thing is too awesome.

James,
realistically how much do you want to get out of it?

After being on this forum for 4 years it seems every time you turn around somebody is linking to e-bay saying "look what that idiot wants for his truck, he must be crazy". Kinda put a bad taste in my mouth.
What would I ask? Haven't a clue. Lot less than was spent thats for sure. I'm no fool. Know thats how it works with anything that isn't "an american classic"
Living on the very east coast of Maine doesnt help much either. 6 months away from car shows and most seem to frown upon using their venue as an advertisement.
P.S. I'm hoping that if it was sold, it would still be "awesome"

I don't doubt that James but look what happens when something nice is on there. It in turn gets linked to by many other people. All I am saying is for the money spent ebay seems like the place to go to get views.

I can't put an ad in a local paper for what it cost to list stuff on ebay. Hell I've sold stuff there I was going to throw out.

Hemmings is not cheap to advertise in either IIRC.

you may frown on eBay, but it is about the best way of getting your product (truck) to a wide variety of buyers, and hopefully the clientelle that is interested in what you have. You'd be surprised at what sells on eBay and for what price.
I email links to friends almost everyday when a cool car or truck shows up. I can gaurantee I'm not the only one that does that, plus who knows who they forward it to!

Selling a high end/high cost vehicle is all about getting it as visible to as many potential buyers as possible and eBay is great at that.

I also noticed you kind of disregarded the craigslist suggestion. Once again I think you'd be surprised at what sells on there, and it's free so worse case scenario you lose whatever time it takes you to post your add. Best case scenario someone sees it and wants it, or even sees it and forwards it to a friend who is looking.

Once again it's about getting the thing visable to lots of people...

My $.02... last year I sold my 53 F-100 (a very niche vehicle) on ebay for far, far more than I had even hoped it would bring.. and WAY more than what anyone in my small town was willing to pay. The special vehicles rise to the top on ebay, and as stated, the serious buyers are always lurking. good luck!
