Driving Light for Bull Bar

Well I installed a bull bar from Aries. The question I have is what would be the best type (Fog or Driving) and brand of lights I could install on the bar. It seems there is only room for two 6" lights. I live in a rual area and my stock 2004 F250 6.0 high beams are not very good to say the least. I would like to be able to see more of the side of the road and maybe 300 to 500 yards in front of me. Any input is helpful. Thanks in advance.

I think you might need some hella lights. I would check out the 500's and the ff200. thats what other people go for.

I would second the Hellas and would recommend fog lights as those will light up the side of the road like you are asking (great for spotting deer before they are in front of you).

I would also check your headlight aim as I have found that most vehicles do not have their headlights aimed properly and therefore loose a lot of their effectiveness.

Doing those two things you may find that is enough light that you need.

if you're looking for some really bomber lights, check out lightforce.com They are all polycarbonate so they are light and won't rust or break, and HID is available too

Thanks for the help. I went with the Hella FF200 Chrome fog. The Lighting Force Striker 170 was me first choose but the cost was the desiding factor.

I did make some adjustments to the stock lights and it seem to help out some but we'll see if the combo of the adjustments and the fog lights is what I am looking for.

Thanks again.

I have the PIAA 520s. I got the driving lights and I am very happy with them. I had the chance to drive across texas at night once and in some places where it literally was pitch black these lights lit the road up like day time. It really depends if you are looking for more of a fog light or a driving light because the PIAAs are very bright straight ahead of you, not to the sides. I can only imagine that the fogs would be the opposite. Anyway, to each is own.

Well installed the fog lights, they do help with the lighting for the sides of the road. For me living in a rual area was one of the thing I was trying to accomplish. But the stock head lights are worthless in MHO. Do the after market bulb (silverstar ect..) help at all?

Light Force spots / driving lights imported from Australia. They're awesome and definitely have the market share up here in Alaska where you NEED them for two main reasons:
  • It's Dark!
  • tons of MOOSE
