I've had great luck so far at Ken Grody Ford in Buena Park, off Beach blvd. Family has been buying there for many years. This is where I bought my 07 F450 PSD. They're adding more diesel techs to their staff and have been expanding the diesel service for a while now. Hope they're not one of the ones being bought out!

I just noticed that you included Burch in the list of dealers to be closed. Are you sure about that? I recognized the other names from the newspaper articles, but do not recall seeing Burch. In fact I wondered at the time why they would close Board and keep Burch because Board was so much bigger and a rather new building. Board had something about 50 service bays. I don't think they used them all.

Both Board and Burch are not near freeways which some believe was a factor.

Do you guys have a Ford dealer take over or is Ford closing the dealerships? My dealer could fit on a postage stamp, I have 4 dealers within a 15 mile radius of me. I would say the owners are bought out or decided to close.

As I understand it, these are company owned dealerships and were closed by FMC. In the case of Board Ford, it was privately owned and I knew the owner by sight and personally negotiated two vehicle purchases with the owners son. But at some time over the last couple of years it apparently became FMC owned. I was unaware of that and still don't know the circumstances. I only know the newspaper reports that the stores closing were company owned.

They were not just small dealerships either. Just my opinion, but I think Ford wants to cut back in size and sell fewer vehicles in more profitable models, and also wants to cut competition between dealers to prop up the dealer margins. The days of expecting to pay dealer invoice, or less, for a new truck may be coming to an end. If they can get the dealer margins up, then they can work on decreasing the hold-backs that dealers currently rely upon. In the end it's higher margins for FMC.

Red Superduty is starting off with a positive reputation.
I have a friend that runs a body shop at one of our local Ford dealers. I asked him about this a few weeks ago. He told me that Ford does not want to bankroll these guys anymore. This dealer has been around since the 80's. Owns everything on the lot. Buildings, new vehicles and used vehicles. The other local dealer, I have had a few issues with. They will not touch my recently purchased 6.0L. Both have been approached to also sell Lincoln/Mercury's. One other dealer is FMC owned, I will not go there either. The one I had problems with is close to work, my friend is about a half hour away. I guess I'll be doing some traveling for service.

I recently had a great experience at Tuttle-Click Ford in Irvine. If you've had head gasket issues, EGR cooler issues, nagging oil leak issues, etc, then I think they are definitely my dealership of choice. If you have any questions on them or the services they provided to me under warranty, feel free to pm me.

I'm with BigJim on Ken Grody seem to be nice (had some warranty work done there) and mod friendly, then again maybe Cerritos (just around the corner from Me), Ford West was My preferred dealer and they have moved/merged with Southbay Ford.
I was told that they moved to make room for a Lowes ?, no idea that the other dealers had closed......

Great, another Lowe's. We already have two.
I guess Bellflower has some kind of plan for Artesia blvd between Downey av and Lakewood Blvd - to make a "pedestrian friendly commercial district". Needless to say, that's a pretty bold plan

I'd never take anything to Ken Grody though. I was in there with a friend of mine and they were trying to rip her off on a used car. My Irish temper got the best of me and we were asked to leave the dealership

Ford is evaluating each market and buying out dealerships to cut competition. Ford bought out Sharp Ford here in Indianapolis last year and closed it. Keep in mind Indianapolis is where Ford attempted to create the Ford owned dealerships concept and it failed here.

Over in Illinois many rural Ford dealerships that started when a man named Henry would paint a car any color you liked - as long as it was black - are being closed by Ford in an effort to cut overhead.
