Would you buy a new truck with a Manual transmission?

I have seen this topic a couple different times now and figured it was a good one for a pole. Keep in mind, this pole is for a NEW, never owned before truck, not a used/new to you truck.

It isn't worded very clear I would never buy a truck with a manual tranny but the survey makes it sound like I would never buy a new truck???

It's one reason I'll buy a Super Duty instead of a F150.

It is worded properly. If you want a NEW truck with an Auto, then you pick option 4. I put the option "Would never buy a new truck" for those that would never buy a NEW truck.

more directly I want an F-150 with the diesel and the 6 speed manual. I would settle for a 5 speed manual.

But the dealership here doesn't stock ANY trucks with the manual. So I have to order my Super Duty if I am to get it the way I want it.

Rumors have been that Ford MAY offer a diesel in the 80/09 F-150. If so I hope they will put that drive train in the Expedition. I will trade my F-350 off and get one of each.

The poll needs to have, in the title, "vote only if you are someone who would be a new truck buyer." Non-buyers are a non-issue as they are a non-market. I say this based on being able to see who's voting, and their profiles tend to be an indicator of whether they are new truck buyers or not.

What does this one mean. I would buy a new one with a V8 but would NOT settle for an auto

Well from a resale standpoint no. I have owned my share of manual trucks and the joy is just not there. Most of the autos today have come a long way. They are easy to drive , shift well and durable. They also offer more towing capacity.

NO. You can't sell them and dealers don't want them either so they offer you very little trade in. Very few families have all members who will/can drive a standard transmission. You can sell an automatic to someone who wants a standard but you can never sell a straight drive for someone who wants an automatic.

For me my gassers have to be auto and my diesel truck has to be manual. I just love the diesel/manual combo... The joy of driving a rig.

That is why I put in the option of Never buy a new truck. I was hoping that those who would or will never buy a new truck, would vote there.

I will admit that one may be worded wrong or maybe I should of had another option. But right now if you want a new truck with a V8, you will be settleing for an Auto or not getting a new truck.

The poll is not worded very well. It is missing the choice I would pick. “I would only buy a truck with a manual transmission, V8, & 4x4”. Auto transmission is not an option.

In my case this paid off for Ford because I ended up spending more money on a Super Duty because that is the only truck still made that fit my requirements.

WRONG. Why would I be willing to pay more money for a vehicle I find less desirable?

I'm able to see who votes and 2/3rds of the people voting don't own anything near a new truck. Given this I think one of the qualifiers should be "have you ever owned a brand new truck". Right now its like asking a bunch of people "how many of you would buy a Ford" when the audience is loaded up with 2/3rds Chevy owners. Its not that their opinion doesn't count... its that ultimately the manufacturer listens to people in the buying pool.

I won't argue with that at. I would be curious to see the numbers with that in mind though.
