support rods

The rod that connects the front sheet metal to the firewall will not clear the master cylinder / booster combo that I have on my 56. I very much want to use the cylinder/booster but also want support rods . I'm thinking about making some new brackets to move the attaching points outward about 2 inches on the firewall and modifying the rods as needed. If I do I will do both sides to match. Another option , I guess , would be to make some new rods and change the front and rear mounting points.Another choice would be a spacer of some sort to attach the rods to the existing brackets. I suppose a piece of tubing and some longer bolts could be used. Anyone else been there & done that? Thanks

I remember seeing pictures in someones gallery who had re-worked their rod mounts for the same reason, and AX said he was intending to copy it. Chuck, who was that?
