Lug pattern

I was looking at the article on rear ends because I've been thinking about switching the original '48 F-1 for a 9". On reading the article the statement that all '48 PU's have 5 X 5 lug spacing isn't what mine has and none of my other ford wheels are either. Mine are all 5 X 5.5. I just went out in the shop and double checked and I bought the PU in 1961 from the original owner and it only has about 57,000 miles on it. It kind of makes you think, when you read an article by an Expert and take their word as gospel and then find out it isn't necessarily so. Just food for thought.
Maybe a typo or that little square might mean 1/2".
