For sure something is not right. Call the ford hotline and tell them about your problem. Try a diff. dealer for sure. Keep all records, etc.

Dropped it off today at a different/larger dealership (our local is still out of business anyways). The service writer looked pretty stumped. He called a tech over while I was there and he seemed a little more hopeful they could find something. He mentioned that a bad wheel speed sensors could be throwing off the system. One time my RSC warning lamp (car w/ squiggly tire tracks) stayed on until the next time I turned the car OFF-ON. Hopfully there is a code in there. If you read the manual, it says that the system has a type of black-box that monitors driving and any collision avoidance activity. The dealer didn't even know if they could access this info, or if it was a FORD only thing. I'm not holding my breath for a quick fix. Told them to keep it as long as necessary. They can drive it for a month for all I care.

UPDATE:

After contacting an online-advisor about my problem, the dealer replaced the Steering WHeel Angle (SWA) sensor. They were also advised to fill any gaps which may expose sunlight to the sensor with foam. I think it may be located through the front windshield cowling or vent area at the forward area of the dash. Hope is fixes the problem.

The advance trac info can be accessed via a laptop plugged into the car. I rode with two engineers and a lot of the info is logged and real time readings can be had with this laptop connected. They can read all sensors and tell if a wheel sensor is reading slow, etc.
