Electrical Problems - Turn Signals / AC / Blower Motor

I have a really strange electrical problem;

Here are the symptoms:

1. Key in run posistion, engine not running - Turn Signals Work, AC Clutch Engages, Blower Motor works in all posistions.

2. Key in run posistion, engine running - Turn Signals dont work, AC Clutch does not engage, Blower motor does not work.

Any Ideas?

The wiring diagrams I have seen (online, Hayes) suck and don't go into enough detail.

Most likely a bad $13 ign. cyl. switch, you could try jiggling the key a bit when the engine is running to isolate the problem.

It might be the ignition starter switch ($12), but, I doubt it, it is usually the cyl. because it get sloppy with age and use. If you search the Ranger or Explorer forum, as an example, you will see it is not an common minor problem.

I have changed dozens, if not 100, under Ford's recall in various vehicles. It is a design issue that shows up with age.

Thanks for the reply. I was leaning in that direction. Is this a dealer item or can I pick it up at a local parts store?

The problem turned out to be an ignition switch that was self destructing. It came apart once I removed the steering column shroud removed.

Thanks for the help with the problem.
