It's going to be hard to get better mpgs in a gasser from just a tuner. It will be cheaper just to drive it easier then it would be with a tuner. A tuner isn't able to accomplish the same with a gas truck as it is with a diesel and it really doesn't improve mpg alot in a diesel if it all unless the person that is driving it has a good conservative foot most of the time in order to accomplish more mpg. Get it because you want better performance because chances are you'll be happier with the better performance then you will be for the economy(but some do see better economy, but I would say more don't see better).

That depends on how you handle that extra fun. At first, more then likely it will because you would be having fun with it. Drive it right and it could help you out alot. I would advocate though custom tuning, that way the tuning matches you and your truck and the chances of getting better efficiency also increased. It might cost you more then an over the counter tuner, but in the long run it would be better, plus if you come into extra cash for more go fast parts they can update your tune, which you couldn't do with an over the counter tuner.

Can you send me in the right direction of a custom tuner?
Where should I start looking?

You can acheive better mpg with a flash tuner but like others have said, you will have to be easy on the pedal. Along with increased effeciency you will get better performance. My direction for you is anything thats custom. SCT products that are custom are some of the best in the industry.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Mike

Troyer Performance(sponsor of this particular forum, shameless plug I know) I have heard does wonders for the 5.4 engine. I don't know if yours is the 5.4 or the 6.8 that's in your 250. Which ever is your respective engine, I would go to that forum and ask in there and see what the majority uses in there. You could do the superduty forum, but that gets a very mix population of people and I think your chances of getting the gurus for your engine are going to be in the engine specific forum. I use SCT for my truck, but the guy that tunes my truck(who is a favorite among the 6.0 drivers) only does diesel. SCT is the popular platform that I would suggest, but I would go the an engine specific forum and see whose name keeps coming up.
