I'm glad you're making some progress on it, but try this too- When the motor is cold let it run for a minute or so and then check your exhaust manifold. All of the cylinders running should give you an even amount of warmth on the manifold. You may end up with a cold cylinder, if that's the case, then you know where to start looking. If you end up with more than one cold cylinder, and they are close to each other, check your UVC harness closely.

bodabdan - if your facing the motor the right side exhaust manifold is hot/warm all 4 cylenders. now on the left side exhaust manifold, every cylender is cold. the whole exhaust manifold on the left side is cold. what do u recommend? appreciate the help guys.

sounds like you need to pull that valve cover off and look at the harness under it. Often these go bad, and sometimes you actually have ot look at the pins to see if they are good. This is a pretty common things, they last about 150k miles give or take......

Could also be a rubbed thru wire on the main engine harness where it comes across the driverside valve cover or thru the engine some where. Also could be a bad IDM!

Would a bad IDM make for a dead side to a motor? Isnt that highly unlikely compared to a UVCH? I would think that the harness would be the main suspect in one side being dead. An idm would not be spartic either like this guy claims would it? I know I still have a lot to learn, so teach brotha, TEACH!!!!!!!!

Find your part numbers here- it sounds like you're getting pretty close to getting it figured out now.

alright guys same problem, different chapter. when i pulled the uvch 1 out of 2 of the sets of wires, for the glow plugs and the injectors, had a bad connector. so i went to ford got another one. put it on, same problem running on 4 cylenders. now while i had it running on those 4 cylenders, i unplugged the map sensor, it made no difference. could the map sensor be bad? could the uvch be bad? theres no exposed wires on the valve cover at all. and last night i left her plugged in all night made no difference
