I have a Kenwood DDX6019 NAV system and i am wanting to install it myself i was wandering if anyone could tell me how to remove my factory radio easily??? any info would be greatly appreciated...
yup. you will start to think that your going to break it, then at that point pull harder and it will unsnap itself. remove the four screws and unplug the radio. just as easy as that.
thanks guys for the info i appreciate it...ill probably have more questions as the project progresses...oh yeah i remembered one....is it possible to use my factory sirius antenna with the new reciever if i get a kenwood adapter
I think I recall reading somewhere that if you can if you get the plastic casing off the factory plug, it should reveal the same type of small round metal connector like the aftermarket ones use.
ok so i need to pull the wood trim off first then that will expose screws?
Yes. It has clips that run along the sides of it (be sure to get all the clips out before you try and re-install the bezel...you will see what I mean when you pop it off). You need to pop the radio bezel off, unplug plugs and set aside, then it will expose two 9/32 (7mm) screws that hold the ashtray in. Remove them and the ashtray comes out.
Also, you can pop off the cupholder bezel that goes around the console shifter by opening the console lid and just pulling up and that will give you more access too, if I remember correctly.
do you know of a downloadable service manual for these trucks? I know i have downlaoded a 2000+ page one for my dodge. it told you everything from torque specs to how to remove the radio.
