Duralast parts from Autozone....?

Does anyone use any of the duralast stuff from autozone? I just bought one of their performance water pumps, polished aluminum I might add, it was 63.99 plus I get a 20% military discount total about 51 bucks.... not bragging, but duralast makes some appearingly nice stuff with good warranties. I am wondering if there are any other parts you guys might use that I might want to use as well.

From everything I've heard (and seen myself a few times) you'll be glad you have the lifetime replacement guarantee, because you'll be using it about once a year.

There's a reason their parts are so much cheaper than Ford's. Made in China has something to do with it.

+1 on the quality issues of DuraLast. Their lifetime warranties lose their luster on the subsequent replacements. Now on the 2nd 'free' alternator.

IMO, these parts are good only for when one foresees selling the vehicle in the near future.

Most of my service parts on my truck are lifetime warrantied by AZ. After 25 years you'd think I'd be back again and again....not so. The alternator is at least 15 years old now. When it goes, go pick up a free one! I've had good experiences except for starters....word is you should buy NEW starters.

The Duralast name has been on many different grades of parts over the years. Some have had good quality, while others have had such lousy quality that AZ actually had a 1 replacement limit on their "Lifetime" warrentty for a while.
I can't see saving a few bucks on the purchase price of a part, if it means I will soon have to change that same part again, even if the replacement part does not cost any additional money the second time around.
Starters and alternators, I take to a local rebuilder I have been using for years. The cost is usually about the same or a little more, but I have never had one of his fail unexpectedly. I cannot say the same about stuff bought at the chain parts stores.
Aside from starters/alternators, most of the stuff they sell is decent quality, and give satisfactory performance. Duralast branded batteries seem to be very high quality. I have one that is more than 10 years old, and is still working great. I don't know it's exact age, as it was in a vehicle bought in Feb 98 by a family member.

I've used alot of Duralast products with good success. Some stuff not so good and have had my share of problems, but since we have a commercial account they tend to be more serious about helping me when I have a gripe about a part.

Just put free replacement duralast brake pads on the wifes Explorer and the guys looked it up and I had bought them in early 04. Quite a bit of brake dust, but she doesn't see it, so I don't either ha ha.

Out of dozens of rebuilt parts from AZ, I've only had one fuel pump fail and it was replaced under warranty with no hassle.

not that it matters but autozone only gives 10% off for military discount. I would know i am in SF for the Navy. Besides that the manager is always asking why am i allowed to have the facial hair i have if i am in the military and i always look at him and tell him it doesnt matter when your in SF.

it was a holiday special to try to match the deals from Schucks, Kragen and Checkers stores.... So they gave 20% off for military from the 21st to the 24th.. I loaded the hell up this week... spent about 500 and saved about 100.... not too shabby for washington and that really helps considering the tax here is 8.9%

And if it does not really matter, why did you write in the forum sounds to me like you are calling me dishonest.... Curious, where are you stationed, I was in the Navy for 7 years as a corpsman... but I switched to the Army 3 years ago..... I never new the navy to use the phrase "SF", i only ever heard it called special warfare, well..... actually, most of those guys never said they were special warfare at all

arguing on the internet is pointless, so I apologize, and will thus concede my point...

I used to work for AZ so naturally I own a lot of parts from them.....and I've never had any issues to speak of, even starters. I own 6 trucks so I use a lot of parts. Only place I ever had a huge issue with any particular part was advance auto parts, and their starters.....went through 3 in 2 years finally bought one from NAPA
