Cool Reprogramming auto-theft

Okay, battery got low and car wouldn't start. I bought a new battery and still nothing but the auto theft is flashing. I bought this truck used a few months ago; its a 2005 Escape V6 and it came with only one key. I called one of the Ford dealerships service department and they said I would need to have the truck towed in to have the auto theft reprogrammed. Someone please tell me there is someone else that I can do ... any advice or helpful hints???

If you have a computer guy that's your friend(someone that works on Fords and programing them)he can disable the PATS system.
Otherwise it has to go to Ford!

ncranchero is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
What's the story with that? I have an '05 I'm rebuilding and it would crank with a boost when I got it. I tried bringing the battery back to full charge but it never got there. The other day it cranked and sounded like it was skipping then the next time it wouldn't crank at all, hasn't since. It will hit when you first turn the key but then just spins over. I put a new battery in it, still no start. It has only one key also. Does this sound anti-theft related? I'm beginning to think so. It's at the paint shop but I should be getting it back tomorrow. I don't know if it's fuel problem or electrical/anti-theft. I have a Can/OBD II scanner but putting in the new battery cleared all the codes, if there were any. HELP?? BTW, the "theft" lamp flashes when switched on but then goes out.

Rebuilding? You mean its been in an accident?

When I had problems with the anti-theft system. The truck would turn over great but it would not start at all.It didn't even sound like it sputtered or anything just turned over and over and over.

Your problem doesnt sound like it's a PATS problem.
If it was wreaked. I think there is a fuel cutoff that might have to be reset.
Sorry,,,I don't know ware it is.

Yeah, it got rear ended ......... but it's much better now.

I've reset the inertia switch. The fuel tank was taken out and put back, maybe a line pinched or something. Guess I'll have fun trying to figure this one out. The other symptoms above sounded kinda like mine but my theft light goes out. Oh well.... thanks!
